Soft lemon pith and wet peel, green orchid stem, tangy, deconstructed lime from zest to oil and pith, lemon grass, and fresh cut lemon somehow echoing green apple tart bursts; lean and sexy with myriad edible flowers, lavender, squash blossom, nasturtiums, dandelion, and others, small and subtle. I’ve been wanting to try this bargain-priced #sonomacounty #chardonnay from KS / Costco for a while - hey for $7, what the heck? A little reserved on the nose: light lemon curd, butterscotch, beeswax and hints of banana pudding - good heft on the palate but acidity gives it lift, oak and vanilla notes in the background and there’s a touch of baking spice on the finish. It paired admirably with a leftover pasta herb frittata served with fresh tomato sauce. This bargain Chard easily outshines any of the mass-market wines under $15. — 6 years ago
