I’ve been wanting to try this bargain-priced #sonomacounty #chardonnay from KS / Costco for a while - hey for $7, what the heck? A little reserved on the nose: light lemon curd, butterscotch, beeswax and hints of banana pudding - good heft on the palate but acidity gives it lift, oak and vanilla notes in the background and there’s a touch of baking spice on the finish. It paired admirably with a leftover pasta herb frittata served with fresh tomato sauce. This bargain Chard easily outshines any of the mass-market wines under $15. — 4 years ago
Purple hue with extraction on the glass. Clean nose with fresh blackberry, plum sauce, cassis, graphite, black and red peppercorns, jalapeño, espresso, vanilla, and cedar box notes. A dry and full-bodied wine, that’s fruit and oak forward that can stand on its own or as a culinary complement. 15% ABV.

Gorgeous #russianrivervalley #chardonnay - fresh and baked apple, honeyed lemon notes on nose - beautiful, fresh acidity on frame, lovely medium-bodied mouthfeel, subtle butterscotch notes. This is one of my benchmarks for excellent #sonomacounty Chard. — 3 years ago
I’m not that into this one. It HAS TO BE ICONIC. But Iconic leads to over extracted over sexed over. Just lacking finesse. Lacking intrigue. Don’t get me wrong. It’s delicious and I don’t mind drinking it and can age in the bottle but it’s missing it’s MOJO. #petitesirah #alicantebouschet #zinfandel and #carignane #sonoma #sonomacounty — 4 years ago
Jammy nose leads to a big rush of red and black bramble fruit in your mouth. Just enough acidity to avoid fruit-bomb territory and some chocolate, molasses bitters on the finish with soft tannins. Nice casual weekend #sonomacounty red blend. — 5 years ago
Quaffable #californiapinot blend - 72% #montereycounty, 15% #santabarbaracounty and 13% #sonomacounty. Given some time to breathe wafts up strawberry and faint spices plus a trace of oaky vanilla - I’m digging the ying/yang balance of fruit versus acid but still a bit more oak than my Old World palate prefers. Not a bad value in this price range. — 5 years ago
I’ve had a couple of bottles of this on two separate occasions. Higher extraction, rich red blend. Purple black fruit, vanilla and spice on the nose. A bit more vanilla than I care for from new oak on the palate. After a week in the wine fridge and served on a cool fall evening the balance improved markedly. #sonomacounty — 3 years ago
I love it. #carignan #carignane #zinfandel #petitesyrah #syrah #alicantebouschet #monastrell #garnachatintorera #mourvedre #barbera #sonoma #sonomacounty it has this complexity and balance due to the blend that intrigues me and keeps me coming back for more. #ravenswood also incredibly fresh for 2014 vintage. Can age. — 4 years ago
Straw with gold leaf glints. Compelling nose of acorn squash, zucchini blossom, cooling lemon zest, green apple, lime, drawn, clarified butter, corn flakes, tiny sprinkles of dried pineapple, and banana leaf aromas. Soft lemon pith and wet peel, green orchid stem, tangy, deconstructed lime from zest to oil and pith, lemon grass, and fresh cut lemon somehow echoing green apple tart bursts; lean and sexy with myriad edible flowers, lavender, squash blossom, nasturtiums, dandelion, and others, small and subtle. Overall a great Chardonnay with elegance and calculated beauty reminiscent of a Japanese garden, or a small, manicured French palatial jardin. .

Dried raspberry, carnation, rose petal, and ripest plum, with palm leaf and cocoanut nose. Cherry and raspberry conspire on the palate to reign in the fruitiness with tart expressions. Very low tannic profile outside the fruit, with a violet side shuffle and pleasant touch of blackberry.
