Lioco

Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Straw with gold leaf glints. Compelling nose of acorn squash, zucchini blossom, cooling lemon zest, green apple, lime, drawn, clarified butter, corn flakes, tiny sprinkles of dried pineapple, and banana leaf aromas. Soft lemon pith and wet peel, green orchid stem, tangy, deconstructed lime from zest to oil and pith, lemon grass, and fresh cut lemon somehow echoing green apple tart bursts; lean and sexy with myriad edible flowers, lavender, squash blossom, nasturtiums, dandelion, and others, small and subtle. Overall a great Chardonnay with elegance and calculated beauty reminiscent of a Japanese garden, or a small, manicured French palatial jardin. .

There’s a prickly pickle (vinegar) /ginger hint on the nose and on the palate. The alcohol is bit unbalanced by lack of fruit and somewhat hollow palate. The finish is an off-dry yeasty experience. #californiachardonnay #chardonnay #californiawine — 21 days ago

Merryvale

Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

Gold hue. Ripe cantaloupe, star fruit, Bosc pear, white flowers, and wet stone on the nose. Buttered popcorn and creme brûlée on the palate. Medium minus acidity. Full-bodied white that pairs well with pecan-crusted halibut, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto with a white truffle butter drizzle, and couscous topped with fresh thyme and gruyere. #merryvale #chardonnay #chardonnaywine #newworldwines #hydevineyard #hydevineyardchardonnay #carneros #calichard #malolactic #foodandwine #chardsohard — 4 months ago

Pale straw hue with moderate tearing. Nose has fresh citrus, lemon peel, and ripe cantaloupe notes. White flowers, such as lily and gardenias. Delicate buttery aromas. Crisp on palate with more pronounced wet slate and stone elements alongside fresh stone fruit and citrus. Medium finish. @Dennis P. The class teaches a tasting method that can be applied consistently to assess different wines. I’m trying to adopt most of the steps and am documenting the results here 😊
