Islay

10 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1815

Had this bottle for a long time already. And thought it to be a basic peaty Islay. But it is a very fine rounded, bit sweet and not too agressive. Better get a new one. — 17 hours ago

Restrained and dare i say feminine? Islay. A strong woman, albeit. — 5 days ago

Black Art 5.1 24 Year Single Malt Scotch 1992

Fantastic single malt that we brought back from Scotland. More Speyside in character than Islay for sure, this has some amazing aromas of hazelnut with a great, lingering finish. Awesome! — 9 days ago

Toiteach A Dhà Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Peated with some hint of iodine. Dry and not really invasive with the smoky flavour. — a month ago

Reposado Tequila

Imagine an Islay Scotsman was lured to Mexico and given the very best agave to make tequila. This is it. Dominated by vanilla and smoke, gentle spice notes and whiffs of salinity. Seek this out. — 10 days ago

Bere Barley Islay Grown: Dunlossit Estate Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2008

Muled back from Scotland by my friends. All barley for this bottling was estate grown. This was a really fun (and tasty) whiskey to try and attempts to define the sense of place even more. — 22 days ago

Caol Ila

Aged 12 Years Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Nose is camp fire, pepper, sea breeze, and some faint lemon peel.

Pretty dry up front with big spice/pepper notes. Smoke builds on palate and crescendos in a salty smoked bacon note with some lemon pith. Long, savory finish.

An Islay beauty. Not as much malt or wood sweetness as others, but really nice brine notes and plastic phenolic notes are subdued. Yum.
