Never tried a wine from this Sicilian red grape (Perricone), earthy, red-fruited, kind of shows the “foxy” notes of certain American hybrid red grapes, good acid, nice balance, only 13% (yay!), solid finish, really a nice mid-week drinker!! — 5 days ago
Tried a bottle of this maybe a year ago, nice red blend made by the LEGENDARY Joel Peterson, whose Ravenswood Zins, Pickberry, Merlot, etc., I’ve purchased over the years — 190% RESPECT for Joel, who is ONE of the all-time GREAT Zin winemakers in California. This blend, which I described in my earlier checkin I described above, is very nice, supple, balanced, drinkable, but I WANT a Joel Zinfandel!!! — 7 days ago
This is more northern Rhone-like, tobacco, smoky undertones, drinking beautifully tonight, lovely balance, long, lingering finish. — 8 days ago
Pretty red and dark fruit aromas and flavors, quite ripe (15% ABV), round, soft tannins, good balance, but the heat shows into the medium-long finish, good, not great, CdP. — 3 days ago
Last had this in late 2024, a blend with some Syrah and Montepulciano and Sangiovese from the Marche, pleasant, soft tannins, medium-long finish, the earlier red from Puglia was much more interesting, good. — 6 days ago
Lovely fresh red fruits, nice balance, very good acidity, very similar to my last note from 6 months ago, lovely Mendocino Carignan!! — 8 days ago
Candied red fruit aromas and flavors, still sporting some solid tannic structure and good acidity, fruit is starting to fade, though, and as much good luck I’ve had cellaring the 2011 Beaujolais, this bottle would clearly have been better 2-4 years ago. — 9 days ago

About 6-8 weeks ago, I posted on the 1999 Les Cailloux CdP that I acquired through a Bay Area retailer no longer in business, the wine being a gray market import — that 1999 was virtually dead. I’m sad to report that this first bottle I’ve opened of the same wine (but 2000 vintage) has the same telltale problem, bordering on being a drain pour, though clearly better than the 1999. FYI — the gray market importer, who I’ve never heard of, was Thomas Wine Imports, Mission Hills, CA. Be VERY careful if you happen to see either 1999 or 2000 Les Cailloux CdP in a wine shop or on a wine list, check the back label carefully. I will NOT be dumping my remaining bottles of these on the auction market, so if you see one, it didn’t come from my cellar. A sad outcome for what should still be a very fine CdP!! — 3 days ago
This is what I call an absolutely lovely Italian red is a short, squat bottle, dark purple, deep, rich fruit, really a super drinker with lasagna for dinner (and sub-$15)!! [Aglianico, Negroamaro and Primitivo] — 6 days ago

Spicy redfruits, good depth and balance, works really well with pizza, medium-long finish, just slightly lighter than the outstanding 2023 Old Vine. — 2 days ago
