reminded me of a 90s Zin - where I first fell in love drinking Farrell & Franus, Swan & Storybook, Ridge & Ravenswood - seemed like great Zins were everywhere & price accessible... despite the age, this was still inky w/wafting aromas of black & red fruit, beautifully ripe & generous w/peppery, spicy accents. bump for age, price & novelty: found this dusty bottle at bottom of shelf, recognized estate as old school Chilean, so for $20 could not pass it up: still really inky no bricking, initially shy & reductive, after 2 hrs started to strut w/gobs of dark fruit, licorice, herbs and spice. Varietally correct & showing youthful a decade on... med+ weight, balanced acidity, superb ripe fruit quality mingled with pepper & spice leading to impressive finish. — 11 days ago

one of the more impressive wines i've had from ARG - deep dark golden color, looked slightly oxidized, and a bouquet that vacillated from honeyed florals, to mineral, to exotic perfumed spice, musky, brooding, ripe citrus then orchard fruit - just so multi-layered & oh so engaging, the palate was a bit more focused - solid mid weight w/firm acidic backbone leading to lingering tangy salty finish. can't recall having a Chenin like this - felt like extended skin contact and long lees treatment. — 4 days ago
