so delicious, hearty style - tasted as though it saw some oak but def spent time on lees, some tropical fruit like guava and citrus but also savory herby floral, just a great nose. med bodied, weighty w/some bottle age, firm acidic backbone, minerality and lingering finish — 5 days ago

birth year Port - pristine, jaw dropping tastiness. Random conversation with wine guy in DC who says he has a stash of Feist port in the basement, took a chance and really lucked out - thanks Schneiders! — 10 days ago

last bottle and it was the best — ever!

opened for an old friend and after battling a broken cork and decanting, it ended up absolutely pristine, darn near flawless. A testament to Fred Scherrer

typical Paso - too hot, overextracted and clumsy, BUT Petite Sirah has such a gorgeous aromatic & palate profile that this was still enjoyable. all the tell tale notes of deep dark fruit compote, coffee, cocoa, cassis, pepper, exotic spices - just a big audacious nose w/generous fleshy (flabby) palate, moderate tannins and modest finish — 2 days ago

checking in on this beauty 16 or so months later and we weren't quite as effusive as last time... solid SB but i believe this is meant to be consumed upon release — 6 days ago

Have a few more of these squirreled away, but opened for an old friend who used to buy a ton of Hewitson wines from me — this was nearly flawless, just a stunning presentation, best it’s shown — ever. — 10 days ago

ouch - maybe a bad bottle but this was disappointing as I seem to always enjoy Musar and Lebanese wines in general. this was harsh & astringent- lacked any sort of charm or finesse — 4 days ago

believe this is Caprettone, grape i never heard of but this is a delightful wine from a DOC where i usually enjoy the red blends. this was a dull straw/greenish flecked color with an unusual nose of honeycomb, savory biscuit, herbaceous, minerals, funk, along with tart notes of some orchard fruit. we had with seafood pasta - working remarkably well. little age on this offered add'l intrigue & complexity, luxurious mouthfeel, lithe weight, balanced acidity. — 6 days ago

Last bottle — opened for an old friend and like the PN alongside, this was a stunner, nearly flawless. Intact cork, bunch of sediment, and after only half hour in the decanter it was game time. Had PN and this alongside gorgeous ribeye — 10 days ago

Spoken from first hand experience, Scherrer’s are one of the few good Zinfandel bets for extended aging into very special wine. Good young too.
