Primarily Viura with some Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc blended in. Light white gold color. Aromas of green orchard fruit, white flowers, citrus and wet stones. Flavors of pear, peach, lime, orange and cantaloupe fruit with a distinct mineral note. Light body and a bit short on the finish but the acidity is lively. Well structured Super Tuscan blend that incorporates only the following Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (30%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Petit Verdot (10%). Plush aromas of black/blue fruit, oaky spice, eucalyptus, violets and leather. Flavors of blackberries, cassis, tobacco, black licorice and dark chocolate. Mineral and garrigue notes on the long and lingering finish. Full bodied, powerful and dense. Well softened tannins with excellent balance, structure and complexity. According to the winemaker, the blend on this Rose’ is primarily Pinot Noir with some of the previous year’s Chardonnay blended in. (Thus, the Non Vintage designation). Thus, we have a “Burgundy-style” Rose’. Dark salmon-pink color. Aromas of citrus, earth, dried red berries and rose petals. Slight bit of mineral on the medium finish. Acidity is present but the wine is very tight. Gentle bubbles that disperse quickly. Little in the way of mousse. Not much to get excited about here. Another solid vintage. Blend of Alfrocheiro (40%), Touriga National (30%) and Tinta Roriz (30%). Dark ruby color. Aromas of ripe black fruit, violets and subtle spice. Flavors of black cherry/raspberry/currant/plum fruit, dried herbs and sweet baking spices. Slight touch of oak on the long finish. Noticeable acidity and very smooth tannins. Fresh and well balanced.
