Apple Juice coloring. Tight, white drift. Sticky subterranean banyan root lacing with mutated emus in hilly topography. Bright tangerine and red grapefruit nose also bringing lemon zest and lime. Caramel note peeking through magnolia blossom. Pops on the palate with pink and white grapefruit and just a hint of candied lemon peel, white pepper and pith. The lacing turns primitive moose scribble constellations in this local cluster. Great offering from a neighboring brewery.

Mason Ale Works Dankenstein’s Monster Unfiltered Double IPA

Bile colored petrol body Brains with eyes floating, cuttlefish scurry lacing. Caramel lime nose, shows pineapple cake and violet marshmallow, pomelo and pithy pound cake too. Ripping stitches in its dankness, this damned thing has a heartbeat deep inside its malted frame. Cedar and steamy cinnamon is suggested in this citrus bath of ridiculous depth. Pitchfork wood and grapefruit torches. This thing is a true monster! Not many can hold a candle to this! Nor would they want to! Fiiiiire!

Mason Ale Works Bride of Dankenstein West Coast IPA
#Gasoline colored with a purple hint to a shock white head. Bears ears lacing melts to tentacles from the deep. Orange zest breads and carrot cakes nose meet candied grapefruit and limoncello. Round palate shows restraint, builds around the beer-ness a mandorla both bread-y and zesty with citrus melange exquisite. Its darkness is not the lead as it also shows a galactic shimmer. Incredible.

One of the last of this year’s pumpkin offerings. Often I give them a year to mature, but this one is earmarked for early retirement.

Southern Tier Brewing Co Maple Warlock Imperial Pumpkin Stout

Brown-black dark Chocolate color. Palm marrow, cappuccino head. The Wedge lacing holds the wall until Timelapse roadkill rumble reduces to spotted beetle back. Maple nose shows chocolate, then Turkish coffee and coffee liqueur and s’mores. Palate is burnt caramel, black strap molasses, baking chocolate, chicory, and dried violets. Touch of graphite. Finish is sweet maple syrup and ginger.

Sweet warm nose of lemon pie, white grapefruit and nano-mint, lotus root, ramen, lime, and pink grapefruit. Palate is lemon perfection, round pith, creamy lime, crystalline grapefruit, white pepper textural impression, candied lemon peel, and a cubist apricot. Amazing, rich, variegated, layered complexities, ever changing, alpha!

Grinch green from the matcha with a green tinged head. Lacing impossible. Kiwi, matcha, caterpillar tar, baked lemon, lime rind on the rhino. Candied lime peel, honeyed matcha and sage on the slug. Bursts of cartoon color on the melon. Associative, misleading and fun all around. Feel the toxins flee!

Abomination Brewing Company Midsomer’s Night Snack
Stout with Chocolate, Marshmallow, Graham Cracker and Milk Sugar

Blackest Night devoid of constellation with a puffy espresso creme topping. Splitting squelch of zombie disintegration lacing racing into unctuous evocation nightmare fuel. Ghost dragons emerge on the surface. Coffee roast nose has a dark chocolate back note that leads to toasty burnt graham cracker. The palate is stout perfection dropping bitter chocolate, coffee, vanilla, cedar, malty nibs and sweet licorice. Tremendous snack that I also enjoyed as a mid-season snack!

Apple cider vinegar sports a greenish beige-white cap. Dino nuggets lacing recoils suddenly; tiger claw prints. Baked apple, cinnamon-sugar, nutmeg and clove pull the pie together. Not a think piece, just a good old fashioned slap face of seasonal spice, if slightly heavy handed on the finish. Deep and pointed, rich and spicy with a touch of jalapeño happening. Sparkly textures and spiky spice.

Nose shows rich black currant, cassis, licorice and espresso notes accented with violet and pecan; Black cherry and tobacco peek through cinnamon and nutmeg. Sensuous. Heavier mouthfeel shows focused blackberry, prune and mocha, coffee liqueur and vanilla bean, powerful tobacco and a soft cedar. Tannins well integrated, and resonance unparalleled with dark fruits washing like an ocean at night.
