Château Boyd-Cantenac

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1999

Vintage 1999 / drank this four years ago, now it is even better. Wow, what a treat. Earthiness and minerality. Very classic #bordeaux #margaux with balance, refinement and elegance. Applause! — a day ago

Château Cap Saint-Martin

Premières Côtes de Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Vintage2015 / what a seductive smell... even so young... most merlot, cabernet sauvignon... clay and limestone soil... 50 km away north of the city of Bordeaux. Pierre Ardoin is an oenologist at the University. Seductive red fruits in smell. An impression of plums. Vibrant and velvety taste. No need to cellar 😉 when the wine is so good at the moment. #blaye #bordeaux Tasted with a pasta porcini. Good combination. — 15 days ago

Château Roûmieu-Lacoste

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2011

Our #bordeaux guide said this would pair marvelously with medium spicy Indian food. We were doubtful but she’s absolutely right. Nice heady aroma of apricot, peach, balanced acidity and starting to show some of that complexity that age brings to #sauternes. It’s pretty amazing how well it stands up to Indian food or Thai which would blow away most other wines. — a month ago

Château Gros Moulin

Côtes de Bourg Malbec Blend 2009

Vintage 2009 / My favorite ‘petit’ #bordeaux always reliable and comforting. Very true to type. Cherries and cassis in smell. Supple taste. From magnum. Not ready yet but developing nicely. Partnered with goose rillettes. — 9 days ago

La Révélation Des Vignobles Denis Lafon Premières Côtes de Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Vintage 2005 / still powerfull and not totally a Point... red fruit, taste with good concentration. 13 y old #merlot quite velvety taste. #Blaye #bordeaux that is comparable with Saint Emilion - in my modest opinion 🙃 I love it. — 17 days ago

Château Cap Saint-Martin

Premières Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Vintage 2017 / Oenologist Pierre Ardoin from the University of Bordeaux owns a wine estate on the right bank, 2 km away from the city of Blaye. From his 22 ha he uses only one for the white wine made from #sauvignonblanc #blayecôtesdebordeaux #bordeaux A very expressive smell with buxus, wagonloads of gooseberry. It’s a wine that fools my brain (springtime!). Very vivid, good acidity. Quaffable! Very true to type sauvignon blanc. Frivolous. Partnered it with a salad with smoked chicken, mango, walnuts and pomegranate. — 22 days ago

Château Cap Saint-Martin

Cuvée Prestige Premières Côtes de Blaye Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Vintage 2015 / Mostly #merlot from selected plots in the 22 ha vineyard, with #cabernetsauvignon. Yesterday the regular cuvee was more pleasant with frivolous red fruit. Today after 24 hours aeration the bouquet of this wine is more open: pleasant spicyness and impression of cherries and plums. The cedar smell of sigarboxes. And my God such a velvety taste, roundness in excelsis! This wine has potential to be cellared but it’s super seductive now. #blaye #bordeaux Partnered it with dry aged entrecote, forest mushrooms and red wine sauce. — 14 days ago

Château Turcaud

Bordeaux Clairet Red Blend 2017

Light red? Full-bodied rose? Whatever you want to call it, it’s the perfect chillable, slammable wine for the transition into shorter days. Lots of cherry, cranberry and ripe capsicum. Wish more Bordeaux growers would join in to revive old-fashioned clairet. #turcaud #bordeaux #clairet #rosé — a month ago
