Gift to my brother on his 40th birthday. #pomerol can be beautiful and this bottle certainly was. Plenty of primary black fruit left, sous bois aromas. Wine is alive on the palate, interesting peppery note on first sip, bright acidity balanced by earthy fruit compote. Lovely wine which shows a well-made Right Bank Bordeaux can be delicious over time even in a supposedly off year like 1981. — 3 years ago
Pleasing #pomerol - blackberry preserve, fig and forest floor aroma with faint black pepper. Mouthfeel a little lighter than expected given the dark purple color in the glass. Lush blue and black fruit carried by silky tannins reveal classic Pomerol from a very good vintage. This paired nicely with braised beef short ribs in a Bordeaux sauce at a nice French restaurant dining outdoors on a beautiful fall evening. — 3 years ago
Rich blackberry reduction with small tart blueberries, chamomile, dark toast with cinnamon dusting, baked plum and dried cherry. poppy, violet and truffle.
Red cherry near ripe, bing cherry, grainy tannins, sarsaparilla, unsweetened licorice, cracked oak, and clove. Festive and generous!

This is the bomb. Pronounced aromas and flavors with cherry and almonds, bitter almonds, almond milk, amarone like, marzipan and black plums and dirt and cedar vainilla, oak, toast, coffee and whisky...yes! It’s all of that and the aromas and flavors are delicate and precise. This is well worth it and is Pomerol in a pure state. Capable of aging well in the bottle obviously #pomerol #merlot #bordeaux — 3 years ago
This wind pours a dark plum purple. We decanted it for about half an hour first. It has flavors of dried berries, cinnamon, and other spices. It’s tannins were somewhat mild. But overall very good and went great with the grass-fed New York steaks repaired it with. #lalande #pomerol #bordeauxrouge #rightbankbordeaux — 9 months ago
#pomerol that has perhaps peaked a few years back. Some primary black fruit on the nose still, leather, tilled earth. Youthful fruit on the palate, but a bit flat on the palate though tannins were typically silky. A wine that has held up for my wife’s 40th birthday but I hedged my bets with two other regions/varietals of the same vintage. Expectations were really high on this one - I’m a bit disappointed. — 2 years ago
