Wine tastes that much better with family & friends. The Wine Nerd Herd.
17’ BV Lynmar Estate Adam’s Vineyard.
The newest single vineyard Chardonnay from Lynmar Estates. Planted in 2013 slightly over 2 acres of Chardonnay. This is the 2nd release & IMHO better then the 16.
Tangerine, dried flowers & creaminess, lightly honeyed notes all build in this striking, absolutely delicious wine. Will definitely seek more of this Chardonnay.
Unlike the other two single vineyards ( both are delicious) they make, without a doubt more new world. Edit- Even better in a year! — 8 days ago
06’ Kapcsandy Family. Roberta’s Reserve. State Line Vineyard.
About 100 cases made. 94% Merlot 6% CF. 💯 new French Oak.
Should of pull the cork earlier. Multiple layers of complexity. This would probably taste even better tomorrow morning. Easily another 10 years in it. — 15 days ago
16’ Aubert Eastside Chardonnay. Did this deserve a perfect score from Jeb & Parker?
I think Lauren /CIX / UV-SL consistently year after year outperformed this. Possibly could be Mark’s best 2016. TBD!?!
Happy Father’s Day! Edit - If you’re opening it anytime soon, decant it for a bit. — 19 days ago
WHN virtual tasting. 07’ Valdicava, Brunello Montalcino. Medium garnet in color. Pull the cork three hours ahead of time. Decanted it for one hour. The nose is simply out of this world! Black licorice & dark berry aromas, with baked chocolate. On the palate, it is velvety, rich in blackberry, black cherry. You get tons of leather/tobacco running to the back of the palate. Juicy tannins, with a long finish. Drinking now. Cheers — 12 days ago
10, Mascot - Bill Harlan
10 is the third release of the Mascot, Bill Harlan's wine produced with grapes from the younger vines at Harlan Estate, Bond, Promontory. If you’re able to afford these three wines. This would be considered your everyday drinking Cali Cab🙂
90% Cab & the rest is PV & CF
Pulled the cork an hour before we went to dinner. Even better after a further hour of decanting when we arrived.
This bottle is firing on all cylinders. Deep ruby color in the glass. All the black fruit you can squeeze into a bottle, with some earthiness. Additional notes of a syrup/tobacco taste to it, dark chocolate. The tannins & acidity 6/10. The finished lingers for a good 30+ seconds.
Four - five years ago this wasn’t near as approachable as it is today. Enjoy them now or over the next decade. Cheers — 15 days ago
