St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Plummy and warm with peppercorn and blackberry, rye toast, cedar, walnut and oak, hazelnut, sweet tobacco, milk chocolate, and very ripe blueberries. Definitely fruit forward for such young Bordeaux, even after long decant. Disjointed youth, with gravel and tight green spears distracting. Spruce and maple nut, with a green pine nut tighten the leather bands. Good structure though, and really pleasant lurking power.

Rich blackberry reduction with small tart blueberries, chamomile, dark toast with cinnamon dusting, baked plum and dried cherry. poppy, violet and truffle.
Red cherry near ripe, bing cherry, grainy tannins, sarsaparilla, unsweetened licorice, cracked oak, and clove. Festive and generous!

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Warm nose of straw and rich loam, gunpowder tea, cumin, espresso grounds, ripe black cherry, toasted coffee rye, and pipe tobacco. Silky tannins stretched tight across baked black currant, bakers chocolate, cardamom, generous graphite dusted, dark toasted black rye, burnt ends, grilled date.

Bougros Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

Yellow amber to antique gold developing in this 8 year old beauty. Nose showing pineapple and baked lemon, green onion and lemon bread. Lemon pith opening on the palate with lime peel, lemon zest and briny cucumber. Kumquat sharpness, white grapefruit, bitter orange, kefir lime. Not cellared, so rapid age expected, still a lovely treat.

2009. Tanned and healthy grand cru. Spicy holiday nose of clove and allspice with cinnamon sprinkles. Crumbly oak with mushrooms sprouting. Touch of mint and dried, red cherry. Tart cherry in a dervish with moist, dark tobacco. Incredible depth suggesting peppercorn dusted dried black raspberries, black cherry and truffle, baker chocolate and savory. This is a beefy slice of exquisiteness! Stunning!

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Big bright soft and gummy plum nose with warm chocolate melting seductively. There is black currant with a green streak, latte but somehow jungle infused, chicory cream, and all in a cedar lined oaken box lined with rose petals. Tart entry spreads to envelope bing and then black cherry, deep currant, blackberry tea, licorice textures, unopened rose blossoms, green tobacco with a sharp, though not hot point, cinnamon, cassia. A young 10, with potential to go further, but what a gorgeous, hungry climber!

2006. Rich, filtered apple gold. Nose of Bosc pear, baked lemon, warm yellow apple, lemon tart, coconut husk, dry sage, roasted almond, and honey crystal. Palate shows honey flash before flood of lemon juices, lime juice and pith, sweet grapefruit and lemongrass. Sweet at 16, balanced and finishing dry and refreshing!

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Kirsch-y chocolate, wet violets, espresso, star anise, Saigon cinnamon, seared steak on butter, broken stick cinnamon, biomass is rain, and baked cinnamon apple smells. Subdued in comparison to its nose, the earthy and herbaceous entry features smoky soils, marinated mushroom, dusty oak, dried bing cherry, cranberry sharpness, black olive, date, and dried black currant. Lightest burnt rosemary almost refutes mention.

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Color density spectacularly singular, nose of dried blackberry, black currant, wet river pebbles, rosemary dusting on beef, lavender, violet and rose stitched together seamlessly, a minute persimmon, plum and cinnamon sail on in the wind of cumin.
Warm plumminess opens to baked currant and date, wedged into oak crevices. Bite of tobacco, eucalyptus, offset by black olive texture, bituminous sensibility and cinnamon-cedar parameters.
