#costco - nice find guys: priced out of Amarone so took a flyer on this and it exceeded expectations: super sexy nose of beautifully ripe cherries and raspberries, licorice, violets, roasted orange rind, warm exotic spices, mocha, just an elegantly layered nose and palate. not the uber ripe dried fruit of traditional Amarone, but infinitely drinkable. nothing like inflated wine ratings to sucker you in - this was #costco and it wasn't bad just not compelling. All fruit driven and it wasn't necessarily ripe & nuanced. no terroir and not particularly polished — a month ago

Bummer... I usually like their wine very much and know this particular cuvée does super great with a bit of age on it. Their Montus cuvées are my favourite though, really showing a sense of place.

@ESF, I have older Bouscasse, 1995 and maybe even 1990, it’s a great property, but I’ve been reading that some Madiran properties have been changing their winemaking to a more “fruit forward” style??

not your typical RDD but tasty enough - nice extraction, complex & nuanced, drinks more like a Rioja with a relatively mellow vibe, med bodied, fine tannins and smooth finish. still young, another winner from #costco — 17 days ago
