Clos Ste. Hune Alsace Riesling 2006

2006. Rich, filtered apple gold. Nose of Bosc pear, baked lemon, warm yellow apple, lemon tart, coconut husk, dry sage, roasted almond, and honey crystal. Palate shows honey flash before flood of lemon juices, lime juice and pith, sweet grapefruit and lemongrass. Sweet at 16, balanced and finishing dry and refreshing!

Vieilles Vignes Alsace Chasselas 2015

2015. Always one of my favorite Alsace wines. Like a lot of wines of this hot, dry, problematic vintage, it’s not built for the long run, but it’s fat, rich and full of spiced pear and vanilla aromas and flavors. Bring on the choucroute! #schoffit #chasselas #alsace — 4 years ago

Eichberg Alsace Grand Cru AOC Riesling 1500

Too ripe, already oxidized and just not for me. 2017 and already one foot in the grave. Also too expensive. Just because it’s #Grandcru #alsace doesn’t make it taste #premium I actually am sort of steering clear of Grand Cru Alsace and Grand Cru Chablis which, due to climate change or due to winemakers searching for ”more expression” are overripe and have lost their Mojo in my opinion. — 2 years ago

Les Vieilles Vignes de Sylvaner 2015

Really sexy, rounded and lovely. Lemon chiffon and rocks. The old vines very obviously add length on the palate and superior texture. #ostertag #alsace #sylvaner — 3 years ago

Domaine Loew

Alsace Riesling Blend 1970

Vintage 2017 / #biodynamic AGentil wine, like they used to make in #Alsace long ago. Made from #riesling #muscat #pinotgris #gewurztraminer. Vibrant wine with good balance. Paired it as a starter with ripe pear and bluecheese. — 4 years ago

Anne de K Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling 2017

Straw hue. Nose of white flowers and orchard fruit. Fresh pear, apple, peach, and cantaloupe, honeysuckle, white lilies, honey, and wet stone on the palate. Dry. Vintage 2017. ABV 13%. Works well with the spiciness and heat of the chili. Spent considerable time thinking about what best to pair with chili, from a wine perspective. Glad we chose this one, but second choice was to pair with a Southern Rhône, Grenache-based blend, which leads me to this question: what wine do you think best complements chili or a red-meat dish with Mexican spices? So curious as to what others have tried and liked. #riesling #alsace #alsacegrandcru #schlossberg #annekriesling — 2 years ago

Wow, tough question. With chili I prefer ice water. With spicey dishes I lean toward beer or again water . Maybe ill learn more from others responses.

Thanks @Dennis P. The Riesling was pretty good, but I think beer would be another promising pairing! Or perhaps champagne 🍾 🥂
