Saturday night and I have been requested to try this 2015 Château Laffitte-Carcasset St. Estéphe Bordeaux Blend. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose I am getting black cherry, black raspberry, plum, black currant, licorice, tar, spice, herbs, violet and smoky oak.
The palate reveals black cherry, black raspberry, black plum, black currant, violet, bay leaf, spice, herbs, licorice, a touch of oak and fresh tilled soil.
This wine has a full bodied sandy mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium + crunchy mouth coating tannins that leads to a long fresh finish. For a Cru Bourgeois this wine has it going on. A very nice St. Estéphe Medóc that I would recommend to anyone. Still a bit green and has another good 5-15 shelf life. Last night I had the pleasure of being with close friends for an evening of reminiscing and life long friendship. We got to open the 2010 Goldschmidt Vineyards Single Vineyard Yoeman Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose was black cherry, blackberry, plum, lack currant, cassis, nutmeg, violets, dark chocolate, vanilla, smokey oak and a good dose of rich earth.
On the palate was rich black cherry, sumptuous blackberry, black plum, tobacco, cassis, chocolate, spice, smokey oak and rich dusty soil.
The wine is full bodied with a silky smooth mouth feel with medium acidity and medium to plus smooth fine tannins that lead right to a long enjoyable finish. This wine made the evening even that more enjoyable and just goes to show that wine can accentuate what was already a beautiful evening of friendship. Have a great week and please be safe. Saturday night and I have opened the 2015 Albert Morot Beaune Teurons Premier Cru Pinot Noir.
On the nose there is abundant red fruit of being cherries, raspberry, strawberry, roasted coconut, rhubarb, vanilla, mint and earth notes.
Upon first sip on the palate there is a tartness but that may be its youthfulness and will wear with age, cherry, raspberry, ripe tomato, truffle, rosemary, beets, green tea, black olive and an earth component.

Here it is hump day and I wanted to enjoy a nice Cabernet. Colder weather is setting in and this 2014 Chappellet Signature Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon does not disappoint. The blend for this vintage is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Merlot delicious!
On the nose is very expressive dark luscious fruit, black cherry, black raspberry, black currant, strawberry, chocolate, leather, sweet oak and dusty soil.
On the palate the dark fruit shows through with black raspberry, black cherry, black currant, green bell pepper, black pepper, clove and graphite.
We have a full bodied wine here and a velvety smooth mouth feel with a medium + electric acidity and medium + mouth gripping tannins that leads to a long pleasing finish. It is the start of the weekend and I have opened the 2015 Chappellet Mountain Cuvee Proprietors Blend. The wine is 37% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose I am getting black cherry, blackberry, black currant, bakers chocolate, molasses, asparagus, caramel, vanilla, clove and leather.
Upon first sip on the palate the is jammy dark fruit of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, a little heavy on the toasted oak and gravel.
This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + rich mouth coating tannins that lead to a long lingering oaky dark fruit finish. With the cooler weather continuing into the weekend along with rain it looks like an indoor movie for me, but we will have to check out some other of my reds. Have a great weekend and be safe. Hump day and the weekend is looming. I picked up today the 2010 Château Calon Montagne-Saint Emilion. 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec.
The nose is very expressive with dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black plum, chocolate, cremé de cassis, tobacco, and rich loamy soil.
On the palate the dark fruit continues with blackberries, black cherry, black currant, green peppercorn, green bell pepper, violets and a good minerality.
This wine is full bodied with a velvety mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + grippy tannins that lead to a long rich enjoyable finish. On the nose there is beautiful red fruit cherry, cranberry, raspberry, ripe tomato, sassafras, cinnamon, mint and a bit of funk

We are together again sharing the 2009 Château La Tour Carnet on this Sunday night. A beautifully blended Bordeaux 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black and red fruit, blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, black currant, chocolate, licorice, rose petal, graphite and earth.
The palate reveals wonderfully full dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, mint, graphite and a mellow toasted vanilla.
This enjoyable medium to full bodied wine is smooth with a velvety mouth feel, a medium + acidity and medium + rounded tannins that lead to a long gratifying finish. What a way to start the new week with a gorgeous 2009 vintage wine from Bordeaux. This vintage continues to rock. And the wine is highly accessible now but can be cellared for another 5-8 years. Tonight's wine is the 2010 Château Poujeaux Moulis-en Médoc. 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose is beautiful aromas of blackberry, bing cherry, plum, strawberry, black currant, ginger, vanilla, violets, musk, mushroom and earth.
On the palate is lush dark fruit, black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, herbs, spice, graphite, licorice and earth.
This is a full bodied wine with a smooth mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + round tannins that are mouth coating and drying with a long clean fresh finish. This afternoon at a gathering at a friends home we opened the 2010 Ridge Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 2% Petite Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose is beautiful lack fruit, black cherries, blackberries, licorice, violets, tobacco, crushed rock, a nice minerality and a nice rich soil.
On the palate is opulent black fruit, black cherry, blackberries, black plum, cassis, violets, some rich sweet tobacco, an oaky smoke content, crushed rock, a minerality and a nice dusty soil.
The wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + gripping tannin that lead to a long racy finish. A very nice Bordeaux Blend that will not disappoint.
