Tonight is Saturday night and I have opened the 2015 Château Les Cruzelles Lalande de Pomerol. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, raspberry, plum, fig, anise, tobacco leaf, violet, bay leaf and herbs.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, fig, green bell pepper, herbs, allspice, licorice, chocolate and soft oak.
This wine is medium to full body that is well balanced with medium + acidity and medium + supple tannins that leads to a medium to long dark fruit finish. A beautiful wine that is vibrant and fresh. Tonight's wine I have chosen was inspired by a reading from Eric Asimov recently that I wanted to try. The 2016 Uccelliera Rosso di Montalcino is a 100% Sangiovese wine.
On the nose I am finding notes of cherry, strawberry, plum, blackberry, leather, roses and spice.
The palate brings notes of cherry, strawberry, plum, cracked black pepper, spice, clay pot and a mild oak.

Tonight the wine I have opened is the Moët & Chandon 150th Anniversary Imperial Brut Champagne. The blend is 30-40% Pinot Noir, 30-40% Pinot Munier and 20-30% Chardonnay.
On the nose there is buttery brioche, creme brulee, lemon curd, yeasty bread, hazelnut and apricot.
On the palate there is creamy lemon curd, tropical fruits, pineapple, brioche, hazelnut and a minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with medium + to high acidity that leads into a long toasty citrus finish. Today is the day we spring ahead and so we all lose an hour of our weekend. Friday night and tonight's wine is the 2016 Castello di Neive Barbaresco. This wine is 100% Nebbiolo from Neive, Italy.
On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, strawberry, anise, rose and dry soil.
On the palate is cherry, raspberry, rose, spice, licorice, soft oak, clay pot and earth.
This wine is medium body with medium+ acidity and medium + to high mouth coating fine sandpaper tannins that leads into a long drying red fruit finish.

It is Friday night and during this time of being shut in our home a group of us had a Zoom chat to try and help in keep some assemblance of normalcy with socialization through Zoom chat. During our gathering I opened the 2016 Pirouette Long Shadows Vintners Bordeaux Blend. A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec. A wine from Walla Walla, Washington produced by renowned winemaker Philippe Melka. A beautifully blended wine that will stand the test of time and only get better.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, red currant, vanilla, baking spice, cigar box and rich soil.
On the palate ther is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, red currant, green bell pepper, creamy chocolate, graphite and crushed rock.
This wine is full bodied with a smooth creamy mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + smooth rounded tannins that lead into a long black fruit finish. What a wonderful wine that all would enjoy. Last night I opened the 2014 Saarloos & Sons The O.G. Carbonically Fermented Grenache.
On the nose there is black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, oak and a nice rich earth note.
On the palate ther are some nice notes of black cherry, raspberry, a ise, cinnamon, spice, herbaceous notes, oak and a nice earth component.
This is a medium bodied wine with medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that lead into a long nutty fruit finish. The has aromas of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, some vegital notes, bell pepper, oak and earthiness.
The palate has notes of tart cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, green bell pepper, spice and smokey oak.

Well we made it to the weekend, it is Friday night and we are in the midst of a pandemic. So, let's not dwell on that, we need to be positive and try and keep things as normal as possible. Tonight I have opened the 2013 Alexander Valley Vinyards Cyrus Cabenet Sauvignon Blend. A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot.
The nose is very expressive with notes of black cherry, blackberry, black currant, licorice, herbaceousness, vanilla bean, hint of green bell pepper, black peppercorns and cigar box.
On the palate is also very expressive with black cherry, blackberry, black plum sauce, black licorice, green bell pepper, minerality and rich earth.
This wine is big bold full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + to high chewy mouth coating tannins that lead into a long black fruit finish. Last night I opened the 2016 Château Barde-Haut Saint Emilion Grand Cru. What an exquisite Right Bank Bordeaux a blend of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc.
The nose has fragrant aromas of black cherry, black plum, black raspberry, fig, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and damp earth.
The palate show luscious notes of black cherry, raspberry, green bell pepper, plum, herbaceous notes, black currant and crushed rock.
This wine is medium to full bodied, well balanced, rich fruited mouthfeel with medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that lead into a black fruit finish. Again we are all preoccupied by the goings on of the events of the last several weeks that seem to be turning everyone into weak minded individuals. On the palate there is lemon, pear, pineapple, green apple, marzipan, wet flint rock and minerality.
