Onnthe nose there is pungent aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, stewed plums, black currant, licorice, juicy tobacco, cedar, smoke and earth.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, licorice, dried herbs and earth.
This wine is full bodied but for its age still very young medium + acidity and medium + firm astringent tannins that gives you a long black fruit wood earthy finish. On Friday we opened the 2019 Gaja Ca' Marcanda Magari Bordeaux Blend. From the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy. A blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.
On the nose there is ripe fruit cherry, black raspberry, plum, black currant, licorice, spice and earth.
On the palate thereis cherry, black raspberry, plum, black currant, herbs, spice, licorice, graphite and earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel medium +acidity and medium + plush rounded tannins that moves wonderfully into a long red & black fruit earthy finish. On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, smokey oak, spice, black pepper, pencil lead and earth.
This is a full bodied wine with a smooth mouthfeel medium to medium+ acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that goes into a medium to long dark fruit pencil lead finish. On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, herbaceous, green bell pepper, licorice, black pepper and a real dark earth edge.
This wine is beautifully full bodied with medium + to high but not overbearing acidity and medium + sinewy muscular firm tannins that nicely move into a long black fruit rich earthy finish. On the nose this had strawberry, stewed plum, licorice, spice, vanilla, forest floor and earth.
On the palate there was cherry, strawberry, mushroom, leather, black tea and undergrowth.

We opened this beautiful Cava, the 2020 Ravantós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia Extra Brut Cava Rose. From Catalonia Sant Sadurni D'Anoia, Spain. A blend of 44% Xarel-lo, 39% Macabeo, 12% Parellada and 5% Monastrell.
On the nose is strawberry, lemon, white peach, lime peel, almond and a bit of minerality.
On the palate there is strawberry, citrus, lemon, lime peel, tarragon, hazelnut, yellow apple and minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with an onion skin color with a bone dry mouthfeel medium + to high acidity that leaves us with a long fresh citrus wet rock finish. At $23 you can't go wrong. Last night I had the pleasure of opening the 2012 Quilceda Creek CVR Red Wine. Columbia Valley Snohomish, Washington. A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, herbs, spice, licorice, vanilla and dark soil.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, herbaceous, green bell pepper and rich dark soil.
