This we opened a few days ago the 2010 Château Calon. This is from Montagne, Saint-Emilion. The blend is 70% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Bouchet and 3% Malbec.

On the nose the is black cherry, black plum, blacberry, licorice, black currant, brambles, chocolate and smoke.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, spice, black pepper, leather, cassis and earth.

This wine is full bodied with medium +acidity and medium + firm powdery tannins with a long dark fruit earyhy finish. I hope everyone's weekend was eventful full of fun with family and friends. Have a great week ahead and stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Hump day and the weekend is looming. I picked up today the 2010 Château Calon Montagne-Saint Emilion. 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec.

The nose is very expressive with dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black plum, chocolate, cremé de cassis, tobacco, and rich loamy soil.

On the palate the dark fruit continues with blackberries, black cherry, black currant, green peppercorn, green bell pepper, violets and a good minerality.

This wine is full bodied with a velvety mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + grippy tannins that lead to a long rich enjoyable finish. You can expect at least anouth 5-15 years before this reaches it's full potential. Let's have a safe rest of the week and get into a restful weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

I have opened the 2010 Château Calon Montagne-Saint-Emilion. A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose I am getting black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, herbs, tobacco, licorice, chocolate, spice and earth.

On the palate there is nice dsrk fruit, black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, bay leaf, licorice, herbal notes, graphite and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a supple mouthfeel, medium+ acidity and medium to medium + fine supple tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit earthy finish. Have a great week ahead and please be safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Second bottle - Nose: chocolate, dark berries, a little breadiness (like bread dough). Taste is smooth, nice blueberries and a little tobacco (?). Don’t get the herbs I got from the first bottle. Still a great bottle of wine.

Smells like blackberries and minerals - like a mild forest river. Some slight vegetal or spice smell - like pine or cardamom? Tastes like it smells - blackberries and a little bit of mild herbs, with a dash of very slight wintergreen. Smooth, velvety tannins. I really like it. Fine price at the usual $20, awesome deal at the $11-for-the-last-of-the-stock that I paid. Went back and bought everything that was left. EDIT: BAY LEAF. IT TASTES A BIT LIKE BAY LEAF! Thanks to the other reviewer, he nailed it.

Merlot is goood when you have mooooney. And 9 years of aging makes it a velvety-smooth blackberry delight.
