Wine lover, world traveler, love to try new wines. Ex military (go Navy)!!
There is a legend behind this grape that after successfully defeating the City of Troy with his Trojan horse, Diomedes is said to have travelled to northern Puglia, where he founded the City of Troia, planting the vine cuttings he brought with him. It’s a delicious wine bursting with dark cherry flavor with a nice long finish. Another nice grape from Italy that I am enjoying! — 13 days ago
Not one of the best that I’ve had. I had to let this one sit over night. It was so earthy I could barely stand it, especially for a Carmenère. Not so bad tonight. blackberry and tea leaves yet still a little earthy on the nose but does have a nice finish. — 8 days ago
After being sick for several days I didn’t want to waste a good wine on a sore throat and stuffy nose! 🤧 I’m so glad I waited. 49% Primitivo (my favorite) 51% Aglianico (something new for me). A medium bodied wine, deep ruby red in color. Notes of black cherry and slightly tannic. Paired with lemon pepper salmon with a creamy dill sauce. — 25 days ago
This is actually the Syrah. Nice strong fruit scent when poured which I love. Full bodied, black cherry and plums on the tongue. I love that where these grapes are grown is near the ruins of a Moorish temple that are revealed when the water level drops of the lake it is in. Very nice wine! — 10 days ago
