Monterey, Sonoma, and Santa Barbara Counties Pinot Noir 2015

Turkey day red #2. Cherry, raspberry, vanilla, cinnamon. Nice smooth and long lasting finish. Never been disappointed by a bottle of J. — 2 days ago

K Vintners

Powerline Estate Syrah 2014

Whoa! Would put this up there with the Cayuse I had last week. Loads of bell pepper but not the same finish at this early age. Going to grab some more of this for the cellar and you should too. — 23 days ago

Mount Langi Ghiran

The Divide Shiraz 2013

Dried Cherry, Spice and pepper. Their Flagship “The Langi” and “Cliff Edge” the #1 and #2 Cuvees of Langi Ghiran have always been 2 of my favourite Aussie Reds. I have tried the cheaper Billi Billi but never The Divide until now. The same DNA. Excellent QPR. — a month ago

Pfaffenberg Kabinett Riesling 2006

Yummmmm. Perfect with thanksgiving #2. It is perfectly aged with notes of petrol, lemon curd, and earl grey tea. Deep golden color and has built quite a bit in texture and weight over the years. I love how kabinett gets richer and auslese gets seemingly lighter over the years. This is a perfect example of a $20ish wine worth aging for a decade — 16 days ago

Napa Valley Merlot 2015

In my opinion, one of the better merlot producers in Napa.
It’s a solid effort, but has a drying finish on the palette. Earth and dried herbs are prominent, with hints of coffee and caramel. May soften with some age, but not ready right now. Being brutal, not worth the price of entry.

A great producer. Their merlots can push to the tannic edge of cab depending on the vintage. Merlots from Spring Mountain can be around the same price point, but I find to be sexy smooth right out. Pride is my fave. Paloma, Keenan, Terra Valentine, Barnett... Cheers!

Black fruit, cherries, cassis. Really shines on the palate - just thick enough, with continuous fruit. Far superior to the 2013. Thanksgiving bottle #2. — 19 days ago
