The "KING OF THE HILL" these days when it comes to premox-free, super clean, terroir-specific white #Burgundies. Pierre-Yves' 2005 #Corton #Charlemagne was incredibly sleek and linear which is why my initial impression was that of a more recent, much younger Chablis. Perhaps my favorite white Burg vineyard, Corton Charlemagne straddles the characteristics of traditional Côte de Beaune whites with their generous, ample body with Chablis and their steely mineral structure.
One of the most youthful and most fresh 2005s yet encountered with years of life ahead! #CortonCharlemagne #ColinMorey #Burgundy #Chardonnay #GrandCru — 4 years ago
10 yr old #cortoncharlemagne showing its age. Bruised apple, melon, grassy herbs & wet stone. — 4 years ago
A vibrant and taut nose with med + intensity and great complexity. Less weight and concentration on the palate then first anticipated but noticeable elevated quality. Strong acid and very lively with med + complexity and great length. Super Corny. #cortoncharlemagne #josephdrouhin #grandcru #burgundy #cotedebeaune — 4 years ago
Light golden color, nose with cream and baking spices, fresh apple pie. Palate has gold apple, green melon, vanilla, little bit of oak spice. Little bit rich (partial malo) but not overwhelming. Medium acids. round finish. has potential many more years of maturation. #latour #grandcru #cortoncharlemagne — 4 years ago
Young Bonneau du Martray; just linear, oak though a big presence is layered, nose awfully restrained and fruit basically hidden until it evolves some more; try in a decade maybe two; so slight but so tight; acid tucked behind the wood too; an evolution to happen; great Corton; an even better site when I drove past this vineyard in May this year; #drinkFrance #drinkburgundy #côtedor #cortoncharlemagne #corton #bonneaudumartray #grandcru #domaine #2009 #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #France2016 — 5 years ago
