Rich, complex, nutty, mineral, deep and complex, dry Marsala is really it's own thing, it probably pairs with all kinds of foods, but to me it's a perfect aperitif, this one is family owned (and the best I've ever tasted), family ownership is pretty cool considering the long history of Marsala in the international wine trade — 10 years ago
Exceptional, expressive; aromatic and just so poised; holding back its full potential with residual oak bits; more behind the wine than meets the eye; #syrah #coterotie #guigal #2011 ; not big in texture for a warm region shiraz; more the elegant road, pushed that way by long oak time; tannic; 13.5%; AUD 200; long juicy mix of oak spice and shiraz blueberry; so fab #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #France2017 to visit; also there #2016. — 10 years ago
Sauvignon in its cool home; holds 3 yrs of age looks good; linear, mineral acidity works; #sancerre #loire #lafond #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours — 11 years ago
2013 vintage. Generic and pretty pale when compared with even village level Burgundy. Interesting nutty and citrusy aromas, but the famous complexity is not there. Great introductionary wine for sure—get a couple of better Burgundy bottles on top of this one and compare. Really makes the regional structure and appellations very understandable and easy. — 11 years ago

Great day with #Albiera #Antinori tasting 2013, 2010, 2007, 2005, 2001 & #1997 #tignanello from #chianticlassico near #siena and #florence ; #80% #sangiovese at #negociants #workingwithwine #australia ; go to #tuscany with #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #italy2016 — 10 years ago
Wow; how maturing #margaretriver #chardonnay does vary; see recent #cullen #2009 which was brassy, this gleaming green and plenty of it; #cullen restrained, this #capementelle is butch; nose power of smoke or burnt things, bottle age nose not simple, evidence of lees/ mlf from the smoke; palate chunky, lime juice, burnt toast you taste in 30 yo Eden Valley riesling; juicy smoke; rich, not terribly drying, acid taut, 13%, AUD 35, full bodied, no apparent reason for it to fade for a while; contained power. #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours — 10 years ago
Young Bonneau du Martray; just linear, oak though a big presence is layered, nose awfully restrained and fruit basically hidden until it evolves some more; try in a decade maybe two; so slight but so tight; acid tucked behind the wood too; an evolution to happen; great Corton; an even better site when I drove past this vineyard in May this year; #drinkFrance #drinkburgundy #côtedor #cortoncharlemagne #corton #bonneaudumartray #grandcru #domaine #2009 #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #France2016 — 11 years ago
Just a wonderful wine; several great vineyards get to compose the wine; body; weight too; #2010 #bourgogne #chambollemusigny #cotesdenuits #drinkburgundy #josephdrouhin #masterly #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #france2015 — 11 years ago
Excellent tasting in Aloxe-Corton at Louis Latour's winery for nearby grand crus; met Harold Small of Confererie des Chaine des Rotisseurs San Diego; great #2008 #cortoncharlemagne ; now that the 2008 harvest has settled its once searing acidity; #louislatour #burgundy #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #france2015 #drinkburgundy — 11 years ago

Fab to come across a maker upholding the profile of Meursault; not trying to emulate the neighbours with bigger names; a Perrieres which is rotund, coloured, deep, taut, share of funk; even brooding; likes charcuterie; #lucienlemoine #meursault #premiercru #perrieres #bourgogne #burgundy #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours #france2017 — 10 years ago
After decanting, a strange note of charcoal on nose. Lacking the complexity of a Premier or Grand Cru but VG for a Village wine. 17- — 11 years ago
