High QPR #sangiovese - dark cherry, forest floor and leather aromas - pretty rich and plummy on the palate but still plenty of varietal acidity. ~$10 at Total Wine. — 2 months ago
True to form. Pure #brunello #brunellodimontalcino #sangiovese from inner #tuscany medium Garnet color medium(+) intensity aromas of red fruits, red cherries, pomegranate, raspberry and dried red plums. Hints of herbal aromas (oregano, thyme and sage) with secondary aromas of oak (vainilla, cedar and toast) and tertiary aromas and flavors of dried red fruits. On the palate the wine is dry with medium(+) acidity, firm ripe medium(#) tannins and high alcohol and a medium(+) body. The finish is medium(+). This is a 2015 and it can still develop favorably in the bottle. It has a balance of ripe red fruits, juicy medium(+) acidity and the maturation in oak gives it the elegance and the depth to continue to develop over time. It’s aromas and flavors are still full of juicy rich concentrated red fruits and the tertiary aromas and flavors so typical of Brunello make this wine a fine example. — 8 months ago
Thought this #sangiovese was awesome considering most imports are sent with oak in mind. It's high acid and racy because it needs more time. Exceptional #wine in my opinion. True to varietal and plenty of room to grow. Subtlety damp, high acid, high cherry with a focused level of robustness, cherry skin. — 10 months ago
#umbria IGP blend of 34% #merlot, 33% #cabernetsauvignon and 33% #sangiovese - nicely concentrated prominent bramble fruit + earthy spice on the nose, well-balanced acidity, dark fruit and soft tannins on the palate. After a day in the wine fridge some prune notes suggest it’s fading after 5 years but helluva buy at Costco for ~$8. — 6 months ago
Really ripe and rich. Too much me thinks. The freshness and crisp texture that I love in the #sangiovese grape has been lost in a blend with #cabernet and #merlot Oh yeah and then there’s the price! Completely too expensive, average price is about 120€ in Europe with no VAT included. #biondisanti #toscano #tuscany #italy Castello di Montepo is a Tuscan wine estate in the Scansano district of #Maremma Toscana, founded in the 1990s by Jacopo Biondi Santi of the famous Montalcino family.
The winery is housed in the castle Montepo itself, a single fortress building set on a rocky outcrop
In contrast to the Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino estate, where large Slavonian oak casks are used for maturing wines, the wines here are aged in French oak barrels. — 10 months ago
