I Palazzi

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2013

A so very #tuscan #sangiovese but a slightly lighter and more acidic wine than typical Chiantis. It needs time to open up but wild cherry, bramble fruit, bit of forest floor aromas, pretty bracing acidity countered by some amped up yet elegant tannins. Interestingly, it ends up working quite well as I enjoy this totally "un-jammy" wine.

Poggio al Sole

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2015

Raspberry, cherry, roasted game, cigar box. Dark, plush and dense: a typical 2015. No VA. The best CC I’ve ever tasted from this grower. #poggioalsole #chianticlassico #sangiovese — 5 months ago

Renzo Masi & C

Verso Cielo Toscana IGT Sangiovese 2015

Classic #sangiovese IGT. Fruitier aroma, earthy spice with nice acidity and robust tannins. Goes great with gnocchi and Parmesan cheese. — 8 months ago

Alberto Romeo

Il Primo Mendoza Malbec Sangiovese 2015

Richer, sweeter #sangiovese #malbec blend with smoky overtones and lingering tannins. It’s not my favorite but it will do for a casual Friday night. — 10 months ago

Fattoria Selvapiana

Chianti Rùfina Sangiovese Blend 2015

Black cherry and salvia. Soupy, short, and lacking cut. Perfectly fine, were it $9 entry-level Chianti...which it isn’t. Sadly, I’m expecting a lot of 2015s to be like this. #rufina #sangiovese #tuscany — 2 months ago

Montemercurio

Messaggero Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2010

Pure Sangiovese from Montemercurio in Montepulciano. Deep ruby coloured in the glass. Traditional Sangiovese flavours, including cherries, spice, earthiness and a hint of balsamic. Good mouth feel and acidity leaving a robust finish. The best grapes from the south west facing vineyards are hand harvested, spend 18-20 days on the skins, 18 months in large Slovenian oak vats, another 6 months in smaller vats and 12 months in bottle before release. #italianredwine #tuscanwine #sangiovese #montepulciano #montemercurio #messaggero #nobiledimontepulciano #vinorosso #italianwine — 3 months ago

Petra

Suvereto Red Blend 2011

This 2011 Petra is a varietal Sangiovese from vineyards near the town of Suvereto, on the hills of the Val di Corona. A modern winery in a region the with vine growing roots (no pun intended) going back to the Greeks and Etruscans. Even after an hour in the decanter this wine has not fully opened. In spite of that, it is still very smooth on the palate with a noticeable earthiness, leather, tobacco and quite a bit of licorice on the finish. Good and juicy acidity, yet tannins are a little tight. Will definitely benefit from a little more ageing.

Marchesi Antinori

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2014

I’ve had all my best #antinori bottles in nice restaurants. This 2010 #chianticlassicoriserva Riserva has that classic earthy, slightly spicy #sangiovese yet up front with dark fruit, expressive cherry flavors. Other reviewers noticed harsh tannins but I found them well integrated. So satisfying with a nice Italian meal. — 3 months ago

Isole e Olena

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2014

Tack room, raspberry, roses. Typical lifted Isole style, with just the tiniest touch of va. The best Classico of the vintage? #isoleeolena #sangiovese #chianticlassico — 9 months ago
