This Leconfield 2020 Cab Sauv came in the sample pack I was sent and it went down a treat! Definitely a nice taster.
In the glass it’s a juicy plum red colour. On the nose it’s rather earthy/forest like alongside having notes of blackberries, and vanilla oak. On the palate it’s fruity and fresh with plentiful black cherries and berry flavours. Nice full flavour without being overpowering. Balanced and delish!

Happy Mother’s Day to me! We decided to open this Champagne Petit & Bajan, Grand Cru “Ambrosie” which we bought through our Emperor Club monthly champagne subscription. We enjoyed it with freshly baked scones (thank you Mr Spittoon) with jam and cream 😋
I have to admit the deep purple label really catched my eye. Plus on closer inspection of the bottle it has a twisted effect to the neck of it which is kinda cool.
In the glass it’s a sandy yellow shade. Crisp citrus, fresh grapes and hints of passionfruit and tropical fruits come through on the nose. It’s zesty, tangy and refreshing on the palate. It was yummy but not one I’d rush out to buy again.

I love me a good Pinot. It feels like the perfect red wine in autumn as we wind down for winter ❄️
I live on the Bellarine Peninsula which means Scotchmans Hill is just up the road. Lucky me I know 😜
We cracked this 2020 Pinot Noir the other night once the kids were in bed.
In the glass it’s a pretty ruby shade. It has elegant aromatics made up of red berries and misty morning air. In the mouth it’s incredibly moreish and has an impressively lengthy finish for a Pinot.

To be honest with you, I don’t drink a lot of moscato. However I added this bottle of Chrismont 'La Zona' Moscato 2019 to my Good Pair Days order to drink on World Moscato Day (9 May) + as research for my moscato blog post: https://travellingcorkscrew.com.au/blog/moscato-wine/
I am actually surprised that we ended up drinking the whole bottle and both Mr Spittoon and I enjoyed it.
It weighs in at only 8.5% and although it’s on the sweeter side it was perfectly balanced with acidity. It would make an excellent breakfast or brunch wine, especially its little bit of fizz too.
It’s made from white Frontignac grapes grown in Victoria’s King Valley region.
In the glass it’s a brilliant yellow with a hint of fizz to it. Honeysuckle florals, candied
citrus, lemonade and juicy orchard fruit notes rise from the glass. The classic moscato sweetness is there but it’s balanced with acidity making it pretty darn refreshing and smashable.

We celebrated #SauvBlancDay 2022 last Friday with this 2020 6Ft6 Sauvignon Blanc. It’s one of my favourite SB’s at the moment, so it seemed only fitting.
We enjoyed it with fish tacos 🌮 and it went together perfectly.
Th grapes are grown in Moorabool Valley (Geelong) alongside the Yarra Valley. And it’s vegan 🌱 friendly.
I really enjoy this SB because I find it so refined. It’s not full of in-your-face flavour like a lot of SB’s. Instead it’s rather delicate with subtle juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavours like lychee. Definitely a favourite SB at the moment for me.

We popped this British beauty to help celebrate a friends birthday from afar and boy was it a delight to drink.
We were kindly sent this sample bottle from Pommery to help celebrate their first British sparkling wine! They’re the first Champagne house to produce an English fizz and wow, I was impressed!
In fact I’d drink it over a few of the big brand NV Champagnes. That’s how well it went down! At approximately $89 a pop I definitely would expect that.
The grapes 🍇 are grown in Hampshire, Southern England and it’s made from the classic champagne grapes with the majority being Chardonnay. It’s Pommery in style from English terroir.
In the glass it’s a brilliant morning sunshine hue. The nose is super fresh with yellow orchard fruits and citrus however it also made me think of vanilla honey on crumpets. The palate is smooth and perfectly rounded. My oh my it’s divine.

I picked this Pet Nat up in my latest Good Pair Days monthly box. If you want to learn more about Pet Nat head to: travellingcorkscrew.com.au/blog/pet-nat-wines/
This Sherrah Pet Nat is made from the Fiano grape and it hails from McLaren Vale in South Australia.
It’s definitely a fresh and fun fizzy. It’s a cloudy pale yellow white hue in the glass. It’s a bit herbaceous, a bit citrusy and a bit bready on the nose. In the mouth it’s zesty and quirky as it dances across the palate.

My last monthly subscription box from Good Pair Days included this French 🇫🇷 “Les Chiens Catalans Blanc” 2020 from the Roussillon region.
The grapes that make up this fun and fruity white wine are Roussanne 70% Grenache Blanc 15% Field Blend 15% .
In the glass it’s a lemon and lime shade. It’s fresh and vibrant on the nose with an abundance of minerality and juicy pears. In the mouth it’s smooth, juicy and slightly syrupy - think canned fruit salad. A fun, easy drinking white with a yummy French uniqueness to it.

A big thank you to Gaelic Cemetery Vineyard for this sample of your McAskill 2019 Cabernet Malbec.
The wine is made of 82% Cabernet, 16% Malbec and 2% Shiraz from South Australia’s Clare Valley region.
In the glass it’s a deep, beautiful purple red colour. On the nose it’s rather meaty and a bit vegetal with blueberries and blackcurrant coming through for me. It’s refined and juicy on the palate with a silky texture. Incredibly easy and pleasurable to consume. I love the fruit forwardness of the palate.

Casey @ Travelling Corkscrew
A big thank you to Patina and Define Wine for sending over to this sample of your 2018 Pinot Noir from Orange, NSW. We’ve had a number of Australian Pinot’s lately and I have to admit this juicy cherry 🍒 bomb has been my favourite.
It’s a garnet shade in the glass with notes of cherries and raspberries coming through on the nose alongside hints of oak, violets, earth and truffles. In the mouth it’s super silky in texture and simply oozes elegance.
Enjoyed out of a Riedel OUVERTURE Magnum glass.
