Aromas and palate drinks nothing like Tuscan Sangiovese but instead it drinks closer to Cabernet and Bordeaux blend from the same mountain AVA with punchy black/purple fruit on the nose; distinctive edgy tannins on the palate set against pronounced acidity. 11 years of bottle age is only just starting to soften the tannins a bit. Hasty decision to uncork this reveals obvious infanticide. Tight, reductive, un-integrated oak the first day. After a day in the wine fridge it’s starting to come alive. That #moonmountaindistrict fruit starts unfurling with black/purple berry preserve nose, subtle baking spices, kola nut, cocoa powder. Lush acidity on palate, chewy tannins that compile on the palate, coasting finish. I’d love to see this wine evolve at 5 years and 10. — 3 years ago

Great balance on palate, wave of fruit and spice continues with just the right amount of acidity and robust tannins on the finish.
