Revisited one of my old favorites. This #zinfandel is very dark in the glass with deep purple hues. The body is heavy and compact with a somewhat fresh and cassis like. Tasting a savory component as the seed. Mildly tannic, moderate acid. #wine — 4 years ago
Pleasantly balanced #zinfandel. More subtle than expected bramble fruit nose. Beautifully restrained Zin on palate - succulent acidity, some vanilla, toasty oak notes, characteristic spice on the finish. — 2 years ago
I concur with @Byron C Mayes - good QPR #lodi #zinfandel here. The 2018 vintage looks to be even hotter than 2019 at 15% ABV. Airing it out and a day in the wine fridge helped. Heady blackberry pie filling nose, syrupy mouthfeel from that high alcohol, coffee and dark chocolate flavors mid-palate. There’s less of that expected Zin spice but enough acidity to keep things interesting. Definitely recommended for ~$9 at Total Wine if Zin is your thing. — 4 years ago
I admit I have been avoiding tasting this wine given the mass-market appeal and ubiquitous availability. After keeping in wine fridge for several days after opening under a vacuum rubber stopper, tried it tonight with pizza. Pours quite viscous, almost Port-like, clearly shows as a big extract wine in the glass. After warming up, finally getting some blackberry pie filling and other blue/black fruit notes. Bigger feel in the mouth, surge of that dark fruit plus some bitter chocolate, coffee notes and pronounced peppery spice plus cocoa on the finish - clearly a big dose of ripe #zinfandel in this blend. Unfortunately there’s not enough acidity to offset the hot 15.5% ABV nature of this juice. I can see why it’s popular and at the same time I confirmed it’s not my kind of wine - feels like a throwback to #parker-influenced Napa red blends from the early 2000s. — 2 years ago
Young quality #zinfandel #petitsirah blend by Ridge - blackberry pie filling, vanilla and other sweet spices on the nose; beautifully balanced fruit and acidity ending in grippy tannins. Methinks this wine would be better laid down for 5+ years. — 4 years ago
#bourbonbarrelaged #zinfandel
I can smell the bourbon barrel used to age this wine. The palate has #junkinthetrunk, black fruit, and smoke. Be sure to decant this wine. Not the best pairing with chili half-smokes. 8.5 out of 10 — 4 years ago

I’m becoming a bigger and bigger fan of quality mid-priced reds with one or two decades of bottle age. #sierrafoothills #zinfandel 25 years in, not surprised to be greeted by nutty sherry, caramel, toffee notes on nose. No primary bramble fruit aromas left. Palate was delightful with unexpectedly sturdy acidity, ghostly traces of tannins. No fade on second day after uncorking proving this wine could go even more distance. Paired well with plant-based pepperoni pizza. — 10 months ago
