Clear, light lemon yellow
Clean, medium intense notes of white floral, stones, clay, lemon, beeswax. Soft and pretty nose.
Dry, medium acid body and alcohol (13.2% ABV). Flavors of lemon, mild apricot, mineral. Finish is a medium+
Very good, and would love to revisit this vintage in the future. Brie & apricot pizza.
Would be interested to see a Roussanne+Marsanne collaboration with Donkey & Goat (Skin Fermented Marsanne)
NOTES: “Most of the wine was fermented and aged in a clay Amphorae with the remainder in barrel.” — 18 days ago
Beautiful red-violet color. Dry, lightly tannic, slightly under-ripe banana on the nose (dissipates with breathing) , followed by strawberry, blood orange, and some faint raspberry. Fun & easy drinking food wine. — 24 days ago
Clear, (-)medium salmon, lots of happy bubble.
Nose is clean, slight hints of yeast and red berry, youthful and fun.
Palette is dry and clean yet fruity, fun strawberry notes. Superbly balanced. Lots of fine bubbles on the palette, cleansing and fun. Good with and without food. (-)Medium finish. Super easy drinking. 12% ABV
Very good sparkling rose of Syrah. Grabbed the next to last bottle, happily & easily would repurchase. Great holiday pick. More please, K&L! Inexpensive $15 — 17 days ago
Clear, medium ruby
Clean, med+ notes of black pepper. Might be fooled into thinking Northern Rhone (also triggering a Susumaniello response), unidentified red fruit ontop of deep dark gnarliness.
Dry, medium acid tannin . Body is in the acid driven lean category. Weight of a Beaujolais @ 13% ABV. Red fruit and pepper. Holds its own as the black pepper in the mix of celery root, parsnips, Dittmer’s smoked turkey (oh yeah) and even kale. Cote Rotie of Chile. Rockstar.
Kick ass organic old vine and natural Cinsault (90%) wine from Chile. Could lay down 1.5 years.
NOTES: ”Located in the Guarilihue district of Chile's Itata Valley, Rogue Vines is one of the relatively recent producers to make expressive, organically farmed, minimal intervention wine. Cinsualt is abundant around these parts, and oftentimes dates back to the 1940s so they are nicely mature. *Natural Wine*” — 17 days ago
Slight haze (10 month skin contact in clay vessle, natural ferment, unfined, unfiltered, sediment in bottle) medium yellow-gold
Clean scent, very mild scent of apple cider vinegar, stones, youthful and would be interested to see where the aromas go with age. Smells like a good healthy natural wine.
Dry, medium acidity, medium tannin, medium body, medium intensity of clay and stones, light notes of dry under ripe peach.
Wine is more about texture than fruit and other characteristics. Medium finish.
Nice wine, not your typical Marsanne, look forward to future vintages. Would be interesting to see a portion of the Marsanne (or Roussanne) done in stainless (fruit retention) and blended in. Should talk with Big Basin about Roussanne - “2015 Roussanne Homestead Block is a super-expressive wine. In this vintage, most of the wine (80%) was fermented and aged in amphora, an approach that has worked beautifully here.”
