Graceful #yamhillcarlton #oregon #pinotnoir. For a 12 year-old Pinot, first day impression was it drank quite young. Second day the age shows a bit more with some initial oxidative funk that melts away revealing a still youthful and lithe core. Alluring Burgundian nose with layers of cherry, limestone, forest floor, kola nut, faint white mushroom. Throughly enjoyable palate with pleasingly plush texture, energetic acidity, sweet tobacco and long pepper on the finish. Gossamer tannins build on the palate after the inevitable repeated sips - this feels like a QPR benchmark for Oregon Pinots. — 2 years ago
After sending back an oxidized, tired 2020 Rossi di Montalcino, the Somm had the waiter bring back this wine at around the same price point. Don’t sleep on #barberadalba from a great producer. Raspberry, plum, dusty dark fruit nose. So vibrant on the palate with lush yet tangy dark red fruit on the entry, gossamer tannins on the finish. Corking it after dinner and after the next day in the wine fridge still as alive. — 2 months ago
stop everything, corner yourself, and plunge into this rutabaga, flocked titanium frame, licorice root, tarmac, damp earth, distant diesel, stewed tomato, crushed petal, oleander?, cherry meat, candied gossamer violet caravan. this juice is a vampiric traffic cop with crawdad pincers, it halts and releases you in a screaming fluorescent red vest with unregulated grip. surrender or die. — 3 years ago
N: Cherries, old shoe leather, tree bark, red verging on black. Has the quality of a freshly pitted bowl of cherries, pits still clinging to the flesh. It’s very “ lifted” as they say… Volnay like.
P: Seamless, delicate, acid but not overtly, not rich…gossamer. Delightful mouthfeel, silky.Red fruited, cherries & plums, some tobacco, integrated tannins. Mountain Nebbiolo indeed.

The legendary 2019. A stunning bottle. Nose starts out quiet but one can tell it’s all there. Rose petals. Vivid mid season cherry. Spices galore. Haunting. Ethereal. Classic Liaison. It opens up every 30 seconds or so aromatically. Wow. Nose is a 9.6. This is the best one since 15. Palate is so juicy, so lithe, so elegant and full of gorgeous and vivid sweet cherry fruit. A gossamer like texture as par the course. Tree bark, orange rind now on the nose. Tannins start to come in something fierce after around 15 minutes but they will add fruit as it airs. What a wine. Closest Liaison to the GC’s I’ve ever had. — 3 years ago
Sometimes you don’t need an excuse to open a bottle of #gevreychambertin. Vincent Girardin’s 2016 effort here is lovely. Decanted for 30+ minutes and tasting notes recorded over the next day as bottle opened up in wine fridge, sipping out of Burgundy glasses. Delicate aromas of cherry preserves, tobacco leaf and sandalwood. Plenty of weight on the palate, hints of licorice, cola nut, a wave of cherry and lingonberry with lush acidity on the finish and gossamer tannins trailing off into a mouth smacking long finish. Those dark fruit and tobacco notes plus the acidity paired well with wood fired turkey pepperoni pizza, believe it or not. It’s humbling to confirm the hundreds of years of hype are justified with the finer wines of #bourgogne.

No 2020 🔥 concerns with this acclaimed #threepalmsvineyard #merlot. A “relative” value for a 1.5L at a typically costly steakhouse wine list. Supremely elegant, didn’t have much time to properly taste at a customer dinner a fantastic wine with gossamer tannins. Beautiful pairing with a nicely cooked filet mignon. — 13 days ago
