Parigot is the stuff. I was looking for the red sparkling I’d had once upon a time but was super okay to settle for this (albeit if you have a source for the red TELL ME)! Red berry blend (there are hints of it all—strawberry raspberry currant) plus watermelon freshness and this slight earthy funk that—-is there a whiff of brett on it?! In one word, FRESH! A different bottle than our prior two experiences.
Nose has pineapple core, fresh pear, lanolin and wet river stone.
Palate has dried pineapple, lemon zest and (light) green apple peel on the medium finish, with zingy acidity. I hope future bottles show just like this!

Monthly WTF wine group tasting. This month’s theme was chardonnay from any region or vintage. Nice eclectic bunch! All wines tasted blind.

Very classical. Tasting this side by side with the Mersault was fun not only because they were so different, but because of how they evolved. This one stayed true the entire time...very classical. Steely. Just a touch of reductive notes at first. Very pure and concentrated fruit. Lemon, chalky limestone, good acidity (but not razor like). This wine also showed a touch of pink sea salt and grapefruit, which had some people thrown off. I guessed Chablis. — 7 days ago
A very nice entry level White Burgandy. Clear light straw in color. Aromas of lemon zest and sourdough bread. Medium bodied with a little bit of a silky petrol feel on the tongue. Nice flavors of citrus and peaches. The finish is nice with lingering tastes of lemon. A very clean, crisp wine with excellent acidity. Paired nicely with chicken piccata stir-fry tonight. Nose has cut cherry, crushed blackberry and (faint) banana.
Palate has black cherry, red currant, ripe blackberry and medium tannins.
This is certainly an oddity of the Nouveau style, some weight and complexity to the palate, considerable color extraction shows a very dark ruby color in the glass. Blindly tasting, I might not guess it is what it is... 2019 looks to be a decent vintage for Drouhin.
