Florida Avenue Brewing Company ‘The Lantern’ Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Pumpkin-amber color of ale extends to head which undulates as dissolving eyes lace into spooky reaching claw and ghost flame afterlace. Cinnamon-apple nose fades to expose a cauldron of pumpkin spice and butternut, spaghetti, and acorn squash, and finally the gourd lord, pumpkin. Bourbon strikes the palate first with a caramel and cedar urgency, leaving a tannic mark. Nutmeg and allspice roll about the floor, kicking up the bud-covered rug. What this lacks in creaminess, it exerts in agro spice. I’m on the fence with this one, and make no mistake, I am impaled there. I want to try this one in a year! I think it deserves that. See you next year! Happy haunting.

Age is noticed. Wet rug notes, smooth and balanced. Matured cherry and prunes on the palate. — 4 years ago
Such a baby, but came out to play after an hour in glass. Thick rug of tannins, intense, meaty quality reminding me of Morgon with some nutty and tobacco finishing aromas. Tart yet luxurious, speaks of true beauty to come in the next 5 years! — 5 years ago
Oh hey this is fabulous. In a “I wouldn’t necessarily know it’s cab f” way. It is light on its feet but not in the spritzy way like last night’s was. Lithe not light. But it’s dancing on a rug as opposed to a slippery floor. Silky ripe tannins that don’t grip until the last moment. Bright cherries. Bits and bobs of pepper. A bit of earth and herb. It’s not especially complex but it fits thoroughly in “refreshing red”. I’m here for it. — 7 years ago

Funky, poppy, and sexy, and feels like you are ingesting & slowly becoming your favorite William Onyeabor song. It's so smooth, but has such striking acidity that it pulsates through you and you just want to dance. Whether you're into slow grooving or cutting a fucking rug, this wine is it. Serve chilled, and let it warm up to room to come to know its smoky blackberry, zesty lemon meringue & peppered cranberry. I can't say how you'll look, but god damn will you feel fantastic, man. — 9 years ago
1990 vintage. Last tasted 12.11.22 (9.6) and 8.20.16 (9.2-slightly off bottle). Tasted side by side with the 1989 (9.4) version of this wine. Ridiculous 1-2 heavyweight punch. Opened but not decanted. Tasted at the conclusion of lunch after an hour open. Not much in the nose but bringing it in the flavors. Still heavy bits of ripe plum and cherry with a substantial mid-palate. Larger format of this wine likely clocks in as a 9.6/9.7 but this was a 750ml. In the 750ml format, not improving and it's drink now and until 2028. Still, most likely, the best wine this producer has ever made. The 1989 has a case as well. Like the Lebowski rug, this one just tied the late-80's/early-90's BDX room together. 10.10.25. — 9 months ago

Our anniversary year. I need to get a bottle2012 vintage. From Coravin. Light-medium body. Coming at you, in both nose and flavors, with the earthy, leathery, darker fruits trifecta. Ample tannins and definitely dry but enough balance lingering, long-term concerns under the rug for now. Had I been blind-tasting this, likely woulda guessed Pomerol. Definitely lacking any betraying trace of St. Émilion fleshiness now. 5.9.24. Really nice, affordable bottle of BDX with 10+ years of age on it. I'd hit this again. 5.9.24. — 2 years ago
Great floral but dry rioja!!!! Would drink again — 6 years ago
Dancing with bears tonight. It took me more than an hour to teach this bear the Texas Two Step, but after that we were cutting a rug. The initial bright red fruit notes eventually slide into a darker, richer profile of blackberry, charcoal, currant, cassis, and a mix of dark and milk chocolate. What really takes this from good to great is the constant background of baking bread infused with rosemary. For the hedonist, this is a pure pleasurefest, with more than enough complexity and nuance to satisfy the intellectual, but like a soaring ballad, the real appeal here is to the romantic. — 9 years ago

2021. Popped and poured the first glass with dinner and used a splash to deglaze the pan. Really tart berry and peppery spice dominated. Was good with the steak, but letting the second glass open up over a few hours rounded out edges in this dark purple wine. Delicious! Can’t wait to try a third glass tomorrow… — a year ago
Excellent summertime rosé, crisp, refreshing, citrusy, and approachable for anyone — 5 years ago
Blood orange, cypress bark, and dried grapefruit skin. Dried peas, grilled pineapple, dried, folded hops that smack of poblano. Spiced mouthfeel resonates with nutmeg and brown sugar malt suggestions, bit-o-honey, slight bitter turn on the follow-up that feels like dried lavender and chicory side hustles. Very good ipa all in all. Feels sessionable initially, but definitely dragging its abv across your face rug. #wichitabrewing #vsixipa #ipa #indiapaleale #ale #beer #biere #bier #birra #cerveza #ksbeer #wichitabrewingco #wichitaks — 7 years ago
This muddy, unrefined, zappy deliciousness is the bastard friend who you can’t help but have good times and bad decisions with. This would be best drunk whilst tubing down a river or surrounded by a large overflowing picnic rug. Very drinkable, I could have 4 of these. — 8 years ago
Color profundo.
Nariz: Mora, ciruela, regaliz, especies
Boca: Seco, Tanino M+, Acidez M, Alcohol M+. Vino muy interesante. 60% Graciano, 30% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha. Parece del priorato.

Insane nose of crushed flowers and cooked berries. This hits the palate like a plush rug..coating the tongue with blueberry and baking spices. The finish is forever. As it sits I get a lot more dark chocolate — 9 years ago
