Pico Maccario

Lavignone Barbera d'Asti

Absolutely fantastic wine. Berry-esque and acidic to taste. Simplistic in its way, I feel that is why it speaks out so much. Angus ribeye and mashed potato cake is great with it. — a month ago

Cantine dei Marchesi di Incisa della Rocchetta

Grignolino d'Asti 2019

Pale garnet in color; cherries, strawberries, and dried leaves on the nose; high acidity; medium minus tannins; tastes like pomegranates, dried flowers, and crushed gravel with a long finish. Nellie doesn't Iike it, but really like this wine. It reminds me of Pinot Noir. Light fruity and earthy. — 8 months ago

Terra del Noce Barbera d'Asti 2011

So much energy and fruit left in this, despite its age. Certainly an amazing QPR at around 18 €. — 2 years ago

Vietti

Tre Vigne Barbera d'Asti 2022

This is now the “Trevie” @Delectable though it’s been called “Tre Vigne” in the past? Dark red fruits and fine grained tannins that are well balanced. Italian to the core. Hard to go wrong with this producer. 14.5% abv. but wears it well. — 4 months ago

La Spinetta

Cà di Pian Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2020

A rich and powerful Barbera with balance acidity. Oak is prominent but of high quality and well integrated, as one would expect from La Spinetta.
The first red they made back in 1982.

Cascinetta Vietti Moscato d'Asti 2023

This is the regular bottling of Vietti’s Moscato d’Asti. I’m not normally a Moscato frizzante guy but I’m trying out an unusual recipe that calls for half a bottle of it. So we’re drinking the rest of it and it’s quite nice. Loads of spritely fruit on the nose, ripe and zesty in the mouth. Super clean and pure tasting. This would be dynamite rehydration after a work-out! Only 5% alcohol! — 6 months ago

@Severn Goodwin - I should keep a bottle or two of this handy. It’s something that would scratch an unusual itch no other wine I have would!

@Pooneet K - It’s a tomato-less, garlic-less meat sauce for pasta from an Abruzzi cookbook. It turned out quite well!

Sorì Gramella Moscato d'Asti 2021

Fourth generation farmers producing organically made wine from steep terraces in a top-tier area. This single vineyard selection is only 5.5% alcohol! Breakfast wine? How about all day wine?

Light yellow with a major cat pee armpit vibe. Seriously, say tomato vine all you want, but that’s what I’m getting here. It’s funky. Good amount of fizz with sweet nectarine and peaches.
