Serious style of Barbera D’Asti. Dark fruit, cherry, chalk, fennel, mushroom, wild berry, medium body, soft-ish tannins, good acid and raspberry preserve on the finish. Love this, will be amazing after a few years plus.

Lots of fruit, a bit simple, a bit less body and structure than the Barbera d’Alba. Also a bit flabby - probably picked a tad over-ripe, as some of the flavors border on jammy or stewed. Like jammy raspberry. Still enjoyable though. The second day, the wine was more expressive but had also started to oxidize. So overall acceptable, but I’ll take the Nebbiolo over this any day.

Uncomplicated, but entirely delicious. Concentrated dark cherries, brisk acid & mild tannins. Pizza wine in finest form.

Initial overtones red fruit on the nose that suddenly shifts to undertones of menthol, bergamot and menthol. Fuller bodied than you might expect. Raspberry and cranberry tartness and purple flowers like lilac on the palette. You feel the 14.5% a bit but still a great wine.

Cherries and tobacco. Gets better after an hour.

I thought, “Oh, pizza night at the in-laws. I’ll bring Barbera.” Never had this, but I really like their Nebbiolo. Was less impressed with the Barbera. Was good with tomato pie. Less so with pepperoni.

Black currant, blackberry acidity, leather olive, nutmeg, cedar, juicy, clover. Medium plus body. Medium alcohol. Tannins present but very low after some breathing.

Vietti’s entry-level Barbera from mostly young vines in 3 different vineyards in Asti, hence the name. Red fruit and spices. Chalk, fennel. High acidity

Nice berry and cherry flavor. Good mouth feel. Not as complex as I’ve come to expect from this producer.
