Louis M. Martini

California Mountain Barbera 1970

This was great. Tannins have subdued into their most elegant form without losing their rustic profile, integrated. Acidity is spot on, this is alive and well right now for its age. Dried shiitake, beef broth, leather, wet tobacco, muddled red and black fruits, blck pepper. Theres some wet earth too. Assuming its at least half Petite Syrah and all from Monte Rosso?? Great bottle. — 8 days ago

Barbera d'Asti 2017

Cipressi Nizza Barbera d'Asti 2016

I tried for a year to find the 2015. No luck. This is the 2016 and it's a glorious Barbera. Nizza DOCG. Smoky and slate on the nose. Full of flavor with a mouth coating burst on the palate. Just enough acidity to make this a great pairing wine. Tobacco, red fruits, cherry. Yummy goodness and great value from M Chiarlo — 8 days ago

Pre-Phylloxera Barbera d'Alba 2017

Soft and elegant red raspberries. This is a sick and yes pre-phylloxera 1902 vines!! This is by far the best Barbera I have ever had... sick balance of fruit and terroir. — 20 days ago

Mazzoni Piemonte DOC Barbera 2012

Lovely dark hue. No brick red as you’d expect from an older Barbera. It’s aging beautifully. Smells of wine cellars and dried cherries. Flavor is tart and sharp. Plenty of cherries and mocha. Balance is nice. It’s a good food wine. Matches with eggplant Parmesan or red sauce and pasta perfectly. Nice bitter tannins on the tongue. A very good deal for under $5 at Grocery Outlet. — 9 days ago
