Bricco S. Ambrogio Barbera d'Alba 2017

Dominant notes of ripe, juicy cherries mixed with raspberries. Followed by liquorice and moderate leathery tannin that fills the palate. There is some young vibrant acidity that adds exciting flavour and is well balanced for its age. Will only get better with time. 14.5% alcohol. A bolder and rounder version of the Retiche Nebbiolo that I recently had. Served with Polish cabbage rolls in a red tomato sauce — 18 hours ago

Aves Verduno Barbera d'Alba 2017

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2017 Barbera d'Alba Aves is another attractive wine in this range, although the greater impact of small wood does place it entirely in a different stylistic context relative to the other wines in this range. Black cherry, chocolate, spice, licorice and new leather infuse the 2017 with notable plushness and textural depth. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2020)

Serra Barbera d'Alba 2017

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2017 Barbera d'Alba Serra is a delicious wine that captures the richness and radiance of the year while retaining a good bit of freshness as well. Dark red and purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal and spice infuse this Barbera with striking nuance and flavor. The 2017 spent eight months in neutral oak. This is such an inviting wine. La Sconsolata Barbera d'Alba

Bolognese and Barbera D’Alba on a dreary Thursday night 👌✅ Wine offers tons of plummy fruit notes balanced with high acidity, black licorice, delicate cedar, anise, oregano, and sage notes to pair with, and complement, the meat sauce. Delizioso! ABV 14.5%. Vintage 2016. — 21 hours ago

Cerretta Barbera d'Alba 2017

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2017 Barbera d'Alba Cerretta is rich, unctuous and super-expressive, its recent bottling notwithstanding. Ripe red cherry, plum, blood orange, hard candy and spice develop in the glass, but what surprises me most about the 2017 is how polished and refined it has become during the course of its aging. Of course, the 2017 needs time to be at its best, but it is certainly off to a great start. The natural richness and intensity of the year are so well-balanced here, while the wine's breadth will emerge even more fully with time. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2020)
