La Stoppa

Barbera della Stoppa 2009

Tons brett and funk. Plays well with really pretty floral notes and stoney red fruits. This is fantastic. — 22 days ago

Montefico

Barbaresco Single-Vineyard 2011

Ruby with sweet fruit aromas, layered with fruit and spice. Full flavors of red fruit, cherryand blackberry, some licorice and sweet spicy. Well balanced soft velvety tannins, savory lingering finish on very pleasant ending. Tasting Sample. — 17 days ago

Giacomo Conterno

Cascina Francia Barbera d'Alba 2015

My favorite Barbera from Piedmonte, this new vintage is fantastic, with power from Serralunga soil, a very complex expression of spices, cherries, dark fruits and even some balsamic notes, menthol...wow🍷 — 2 months ago

Reverie Winery

Diamond Mountain District Barbera 2015

Lovely story here at Reverie II. Grant Long, winemaker for Aonair, Blue Oak, Jack, and others, purchased the original Reverie label/brand from Diamond mountain after the owner sold the property. All current grapes and barrels were theirs and they moved their estate on the other side of 29, just down the road from Hunnicutt and re-branded as Reverie II. BEAUTIFUL new spot! Views are amazing. Part of the Aonair team left to now run this, so we knew before we showed up that it would be a great time.

Reverie II focuses on some unique wines...their white is a Marsanne Rousanne, and their reds are Tempranillo, barbera, Cab Franc, Cab Sauv and a special Reserve Cab Sauv. While all were enjoyable, this barbera was incredible. Totally blown away. Pinot-esque with the cherry and cedar notes, but the finish had the smallest hint of blackberries and blueberries. Acidic and wonderfully balanced. A must stop visit, if for the views only!

Braida

Bricco dell'Uccellone Barbera d'Asti 2014

I opened this too early, so there’s still some harshness, but Braida brings Barbera to a new level. Powerful grape up front, spice in the finish. Great earthy nose. — 9 hours ago

Rocca Felice

Barbera d'Alba 2015

— 10 days ago

Cerretta Barbera d'Alba 2014

Delectable Wine
9.4

Conterno's 2015 Barbera d'Alba Cerretta is much more expressive today than the Francia. A broad, ample wine, the 2015 is beautifully resonant on the palate, with all of the expansiveness that is so typical of this site. Next to the Francia, the Cerretta is a bit more overt and forthcoming, two qualities that are exactly what makes Barbera so compelling in the first place.
