Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

This was fantastic, strong, and yet still seemingly understated. Although I am no fortune teller, this seemed strong and young. I couldn’t place all the flavors I experienced, but to my palate there was raspberry, blackberry, smoked meats, soil after a rain, and portobello mushroom all matched with a beautiful color to stare at between sips. Long pauses to enjoy the long finish. — a month ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Served blind alongside what was eventually revealed to be the 2018 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars “SLV”. This was immediately recognizable as Montebello with a textbook nose of deftly balanced American oak and a decidedly brighter version of Cabernet Sauvignon. Distinctive and distinguished but woefully young. Unless you have multiples, please hang onto these until at least 2029. I am convinced that Monte Bello is truly an American treasure. — 8 months ago

Escherndorf Am Lumpen GG Silvaner 2019

Citrus fruit and flinty minerality. Cheek-sucking acidity. Would be better in the summer on a warm day — 2 years ago

GG Am Buhl Grauer Burgunder 2016

Pop and pour. Disappearing quickly. On the nose: pear, lemon oil, wet stone, hazelnut. On the palate: lovely acidity, but really stunning density, hazelnut oil, lemon, soft pepper and limestone. Wow. Really lovely and slathered in minerality. — 4 months ago

Olga Raffault

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 2016

Riper & more dimensional than previous ‘ young’ vintages I’ve had from Raffault, & no cork taint obviously. A note to self that these can be delicious & reasonably priced when bought upon release. Plenty of bright red fruit, a brambly rose petal layer in secondary notes, & enough snap crackle pop in its low tannin body to keep it delicious. I didn’t go deep with Baudry but I did with Raffault despite its rep for faulty wines as they age- but I am excited by the promise here. May my ‘07s age gracefully… — 9 months ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Enjoyed the 2014 vintage with an awesome steak sandwich with the works. After decanting, this bold aged wine paired perfectly complementing all the flavors of an amazing sandwich. I am glad I held off opening this bottle until our special occasion meal. — 8 months ago

Dom Pérignon

Brut Champagne Blend 2008

Delectable Wine

The 2008 Dom Pérignon is a huge, powerful Champagne and also clearly one of the wines of the vintage. This is one of the most reticent bottles I have tasted. So much so that I am thinking about holding off opening any more bottles! The 2008 has always offered a striking interplay of fruit and structure. Today, the richness of the fruit is especially evident. Readers who own the 2008 should be thrilled, but patience is a must. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2021)
