Laible
Am Bühl Chardonnay GG

This bottle is very reserved. Usually this is a bit more showy. Nose is a bit neutral which means maybe this is aromatically closed? But that palate is all saline, lemon, mineral and huge acid and grip. Like Puligny 1er Cru. Architectural in its structure. Super sappy and dense and so clean. Chiseled. Odd the nose is so reserved. This is so epic on the palate with just enormous density, structure and concentration. Thick yet dry. Let’s see where this goes. Now the nose is starting to show. It’s got that wet earth, wet stones thing going. Huge mineral stank. Now it’s grooving. Nose is all Puligny with flowers and iodine. Brown sugar as well. So elegant. nimble and juicy. Luscious and mouthwatering. Chewy and dense. Unreal mineral sweetness.

Incredible wine. Wow. Talk about Burgundian mimicry. This screams Chassagne 1er cru in that there is an intense florality and unreal minerals.. Wow the complexity is off the charts. Genius!! Tangerine, lemon, sweet lime, green apple, blood orange and so much more. Just magic. 9.7 nose. Intense concentration and purity and my goodness the finesse is just unreal. Delicate like only the best wines can be with enormous material but so nimble. Sapid and dense.but so focused and nimble. Balance. Wow wow wow. I am blown away. This has an indescribable quality. That X factor. A wine of such beauty and revelation words fail me. I love the mineral sweetness of this wine as it opens and the classic Laible florals are off the chain.

Nose: white flowers. Finely powdered minerals. Very fine. Needs and hour to open and for the traces of wood to mostly blow off.
Palate: super clean. Very focused. Mineral in a precise way. Vaguely lemony but not about the fruit. Some lactic richness. Good acidic balance. As this opens gorgeous sweet Meyer lemon fruit.
I’m guessing this will be way better in 2 years. There’s a teeny bit of remaining oak which is distracting from what this will be.
A minimum 9.5 with 9.8 upside.
