2004 vintage. At the time this estate was owned by Belgian Pierre Speyer who sold it in 2013. Hecate (named after the Goddess of witchcraft and necromancy in Greek mythology) is the top wine of the estate, 100% Tannat from the oldest vines. Smells like vintage port with sweet blackberry fruit and flowers. Powerful, with still a lot of jammy fruit, a shipload of mouth coating but well-integrated tannin and a sweetness that suggests some residual sugar (which maybe keeps the tannins in check). A take no prisoners Madiran that might not be for everyone, but at least it has a strong personality. Abv. 14,5%. — 9 days ago
Pleasantly ripe and lush for Cahors! Still brings some acid on the finish, I’m loving this one with pork chops seasoned with thyme and rosemary — 2 days ago
Excellent wine and Greta price. Lighter and fruity, pairs well with anything. Merlot forward blend with cab sauv and cab franc. Would please a variety of people — 17 days ago
I wine I think @Ryan Colthorp would like, half tannat, half merlot. Great balance with the tannat tannins and the merlot silkiness. Drinking good but structure to age another decade. — a day ago
Picked this up as a dad appeaser but holyyy—one of the best things I’ve done all year. Rich and crunchy, like a bramble-y woodland walk. F off of you’ve ever said Merlot “isn’t your thing,” this bottle will def get ya. — a month ago
