Our New Year wine is 2005 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno Toscana. After 17 years, the wine is still vibrant and strong. The tannins are still present but have mellowed. A wonderful glass of wine having a great balance between the fruits and the soft acidity.

Clean medium ruby color. Medium + intensity aromas of ripe rhubarb and red fruit (plums, red apple, cherry jam) some anis and hints of licorice, subtle secondary aromas of oak (coffee and mocha) and tertiary aromas and flavors of dried red fruit (dried cranberries and prunes). On the palate it’s dry with medium acidity, medium+ tannin and high alcohol. Medium+ body and medium+ finish. It’s riper and has more ripe dried fruit skin quality tannins than say a St. Emilion, but it’s delicious and will evolve in a decanter or in the bottle for the next 7/8 years. #merlot #lazio #italy — 5 years ago

This is one of the most curious wines I have tasted. It is made in the #Veneto area with the grape #tairosso which is also #tokairosso which is supposively #garnacha #grenache I say supposively because this wine on the nose and on the palate was very much like a Cabernet Sauvignon and full of pirazina aromas at the same time as ripe black fruit (black cherry, plum and cassis). #italy — 6 years ago

When I first tasted this with Coravin we were sure it had TCA, but it wasn’t excessively bitter or astringent and it had plenty of rich ripe black fruit...so I uncorked it today and the cork definitely smells of old winery, old church and almost pine trees but I wouldn’t call it corked cork. Even with the cork issue the wine has a smooth oily attack and firm fine-grained tannins. I am thoroughly enjoying it. #bolgheri #tuscany #italy #supertuscan The winery should definitely look into their cork provider. — 5 years ago

Not red. White #vermentino from #elba #elbaisland #italy private label that was better than the other vermentino’s from the island that I tasted.
