And this...is a wine that MUST be decanted. #decantthis I finally opened it and 48 hours later it is twice as expressive and balanced and smooth. #chianti #chiantiriserva #italy

Summer pizzas and this with a slight chill 😎 Medium bodied, earthy, showing some rustic and charmingly delicious tertiary notes. Everything is really harmonious and integrated, a rounder expression of Chianti Classico thats components have blended together very nicely. Mix of fresh and dried Morello cherry, old leather, cloves (noticeable and positive brettanomyces character), wilted violets, fennel, sassafras, warm earth. Again, C.Classico crushing it in the QPR category

Killer! Earthy, herbal, and a hint of funk paired with ripe cherry.

As I recall, it was a 90 pt wine which requires patience.

Amazing Chianti value. Unbelievable nose.

I think this is the best Chianti Rufina out there. I have had it many times over the years and it always delivers. Almost floral, but in a good way with nice bite.

Really nice, funky undertones with a clean finish. Great balance. Had a nice lush front to balance the tannins.

Beautiful wine from Selvapiana. Nose opens with wild cherry, leather, licorice, and truffle. A subtle intensity underlies the silky mouthfeel and long finish. I’ve always liked this wine and the 2013 is one of the best. 2013 vintage on March 2, 2019

Read on here beforehand that patience with this bottle is important. Now I understand. Decanted for 2 hours and it softened enough for me to get into it. Med/full body and smokey flavors. Black cherry. Tobacco. Wood. And a great sweet tobacco flourish at the end. I totally get it but I have to be in the mood for a bold Sangiovese like this. Guess it’s common for rufina. Oak midpalate knocks it below a 9 for me.

Brought a couple ounces home after a tasting at the store; This might be be most “Sangiovese” of any Sangiovese I have tasted. Aromatically, it has it all. That unmistakably sangiovese red fruit, dusty leather, tomatoes and herbs. I might have rated it higher if it hadn’t been open for hours and almost entirely drank by other people before I was able to try it. This is mathematically a good wine.
