Tenuta Tignanello Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Another great vintage of an outstanding Chianti Classico. (Tignanello’s little brother.). Dark purple color and a bit heavier body than a typical Chianti. Possibly some Cab Sauv blended in? (An Antinori calling card). Aromas and flavors of dark cherry, leather, eucalyptus and chocolate. Beautiful texture and incredible balance. Great vino! — 10 days ago

So awesome! Perfect expression of Ruffino terroir with berry and earth melding to smooth Morello cherry and spice on the palate. Excellent wine. 2015 vintage on Jan 17, 2020 — a month ago

Villa Antinori Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2015

🙈 tasting 6th wine
at wset level 2 course (6th meeting)
the class subject was 🇮🇹
four reds were poured

my guess was that it'll probably be nebbiolo, barbera, sangiovese and amarone. i came close.

besides the one with appassimento treatment guessing what is each one is far behind my tastebuds (for now 😊)

meat, tobbaco, ripe raspberry and almond 👃

high acidity.
high tannins.
medium body.

dried fruit, mint and some black fruit. marvelous 👄

medium 🎯

classic and delicious.

Castello di Volpaia

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2016

No where near the 97 points given by WS. Still a very nice chianti but i preferred the 2015. This one had a bit too much tartaric acid to my liking. — 5 days ago

Castello Vicchiomaggio

San Jacopo Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2009

Rose petal, tart cherry smooth tannin. Absolutely delicious & well-integrated - on day 2. Needed time to open up, but it's a wonderful balance of rustic & elegant, with lots of what was once red fruit. The acid is still haunting. I adore this wine. It may not be top of its class, but it excels at being what it is. — 3 days ago

Tenuta di Renieri

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2015

Garnet hue with medium saturation. Aromas and flavors of cherry, earthy, lavender, tar, tomato, vanilla, and violet. Medium body; medium yet firm tannins; and medium-high acidity. Beautifully aromatic on the nose, with balance and elegance on the palate. — 6 days ago

Ruffino

Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2015

Smell is dark fruity with some earthiness at the end. Medium bodied. Acidic at the beginning, mellowing out to blackberry. Occasionally some earthiness, maybe leather. A good one to bring to a dinner party — 4 days ago

Chianti Rùfina Sangiovese Blend 2017

Somehow this outperformed the 2016 in my memory. Lots of cedar and herbs, black cherry, anise and cardamom. Lovely sinewy tannin and mineral finish. — a month ago

Valdellecorti

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2015

Hailing from Radda in Chianti this beautiful 100% Sangiovese is grown at pretty high altitude (about 1470 ft) and is facing the most famous Pergole Torte vineyard. The wine shows a ruby red core with clear rim. The nose is seducing with ripe raspberry, cherry, violet and crushed flowers. As it opens it shows more of mineral spine and spices and a touch of smoke. In the mouth it is medium plus body with good acidity and medium tannins. I really liked it and am curious to see how it will evolve. — 10 days ago
