Delicious #lateharvest from #chianti #italy — 6 years ago
Heavy floral notes with lavender and violet, carnation, cherry blossom and red rose, booming amid dried black cherry espresso and cocoa, though distinctly separate. Dark toasted sesame, rye bread, and crumbled earth. Bright cherry palate turns dusty in all the right ways, leaning into cocoa nib and espresso oils. Lovely and dry with dried cran and red currant but exhibits miles of lingering blood orange citrus and crystalline cherry. Gorgeous. Eternally evolving and all of it amazing. The concrete egg has made something ethereal that also shows a mysterious depth. Great range.

Big nose of ripe black and dried red cherries, baked strawberry and black currant, heady lavender, dried roses, Belgian chocolate, light dusting of espresso, cinnamon, tobacco, cedar and licorice dust. Medium mouthfeel, plunges through sweet oak spices of nutmeg, vanilla, dried bing cherry, dried lavender, sage, muted mint, black pepper, burnt beef, off-ripe blackberry, black currant, tar, baker’s chocolate, espresso oils, gum Arabic, cranberry and basil. Immense and teetering on decadent. #TenutaDiCapraia #granselezione #chiantickassico #chianti #tuscany #rosso #italianwines — 7 years ago
Bom #chianti. Bem frutado e fechadinho. Álcool bem presente. — 8 years ago
So soft. The tannins are fine grained and quite supple. Aromas of black fruit, paprika and dark chocolate. #chianti #chianticlassico #granselezione — 6 years ago
The 2009 Rocca di Montegrossi San Marcellino is showing significantly more depth, yet also freshness than the last time I tasted it, with balsamic tinged black cherry, giving way to Asian spice, wild herbs, hints of animal musk and brown sauce (think sauerbraten). Velvety textures flood the palate, showing notable savoriness, as mineral-infused dark red fruits are energized by vibrant acidity with a hint of orange citrus that pops right toward the close. The finish is long, showing adolescent tannins, which provide just enough tension, as it tapers off to notes of roasted plum, hints of tobacco and sage. It does show a bit more advanced than I’d expect, but this is a far superior bottle over the last one I tasted. Bravo. #chianticlassic #chianti #tuscanwine #italy — 6 years ago
Our friend who brought this over to the party got it right: “You can’t really go wrong with any #chianti...” and so it goes with this Riserva. Ripe wild cherry tartness, spicy earth and lush acidity - lovely wine. — 6 years ago
Vintage 2015 / perfect example how good #sangiovese #chianti can be. Expressive smell with strawberry and a cassis impression. High acidity, very pleasant and elegant. — 8 years ago
This pleasant #chianticlassico was a perfect accompaniment to the perfect bruschetta that was shared among friends. Deep garnet hue offered a note of currant and a touch of blackberry, coupled with a moderate mineral aroma and voila! #castelgreve #chianti #redwine #italianwines #jamessuckling90pts — 8 years ago

This is about 2.5 x more than our typical #Chianti ($30) and it’s definitely smoother — 8 years ago
And this...is a wine that MUST be decanted. #decantthis I finally opened it and 48 hours later it is twice as expressive and balanced and smooth. #chianti #chiantiriserva #italy — 6 years ago

“Before decanting- or even much of a breathe- the ‘15 Rocca Delle Macie, Chianti Classico Riserva floats right off the glass as if it knew it’d be opened soon. seriously - this is one of the more lush and powerfully expressive Chianti’s I’ve experienced. While blackberries and hints of cherry find their way to the nose- there’s something else there that, even after thirty minutes studying my little book of aromas- I cannot pinpoint! It’s an earthy-yet youthful, “sandstone-y” type of aroma. Which I’m sure doesn’t exist but, whatever- that’s what I got. And very, very much am digging. There is a notable roundness to this wine- both in the nose as well as on the palate. The finish is long and kind of “unwinding” other flavors I missed along the journey of the swig. For its price in particular, I would even invite staunch fans of Brunello Di Montalcino to have a go at this beautifully-expressive & precocious Chianti Classico Riserva from Rocca delle Macie. #PublicofRidgewood, #PublicofPrinceton, #chianti — 6 years ago
High acidity in the bouquet. Lemon, lime. The smell of roses burned.
I don’t usually enjoy Chianti, but I must admit I haven’t really give it a fair shot either. A few bad impressions have left me gravitating towards the northern Piedmont region.
The acidity and tartness work here. Listening to Cajun folk pop music, reading a book by candlelight, and staying in from the eminent winter storm outside, this wine promises to keep me warm, surprised, and as leafy jovial as a Spring day in Central Park.
This is a juicy treat of a wine — one that makes me astonished how the Earth can sprout something so jammy and full of life from its soil and soul.

Nipozzano!!!!! The 2012 Nipozzano #chianti Riserva has to be probably my favorite Chianti. The product of a cold wet winter and spring followed but a dry hot summer... this wine has a nice ruby color. With a welcoming floral and fruity bouquet. Raspberry, licorice and cherry are followed by sweet notes of ripe juicy strawberries and plum. The finish is long, fruity with some floral notes and a slight hint of spice... maybe pepper?
I have to say it again, I just love this wine!!!! — 8 years ago
A darker, richer style...yet it remains true to type and authentic. Clean, dense and concentrated, it’s easy to ID as ‘15 on sight alone. Raspberry and saddle shop. Great value. #chianti #corzanoepaterno — 8 years ago

DOCG #chianti at the sub $20 price point can be all over the map in terms of quality. I knew I hit the jackpot on first sniff and sip of this producer. Earthy cherry, dark fruit on nose, lovely balance on palate; distinctive #sangiovese earthy-soft spice on finish, quite nicely knit Chianti with excellent QPR for ~$15 at #totalwine . — 3 years ago
