#volcanic

Elena Fucci

Titolo Aglianico del Vulture Aglianico

Smoke and a resinous grape with dried violet and red-black roses. There is a meaty interplay evocative of Cuban sandwiches that simultaneously points at red opium. The floral expression is so seductive! Dry entry that springs from roots in a youthful bitterness, with tannins across the ceiling. Burnt, black currant and darkest toast notes, but with a springy black lime citrus-ness acing like capillaries throughout. Shroud and thundercloud. You smack your lips, and you are literally painting with tannins and charcoal, on the dental portico of your Basilicata basilica, which is dusted with volcanic ash. Spectacular! #aglianico #AglianicoDelVulture #Titolo #ElenaFucci #DOC #basilicata #tannins #volcanic #tanninbooth #Barile #italianwines #italianred — a year ago

Dr. Loosen

Ürziger Würzgarten Alte Reben Riesling 2013

The kingpin of the #PRÄLAT CLUB group and by far the rarest of all, given the minuscule size of the vineyard. The rich, red #volcanic soil plays to the intensity, depth, and sheer complexity of the wine as does the #ungrafted root stock throughout the site. When #Loosen says "old vines", he's understating his case. These are amongst the oldest original root stock vines in Europe! #2013 #ÜrzigerWürzgarten #AlteReben #Riesling — 4 years ago

Domaine Maestracci

E Prove Blanc Corse Calvi Vermentino 2013

Notes of #tarragon and sea shells make this a perfect fisherman wine. Acclimated to a life of air from its Corsican origins, this wine deserves a decant and good shake to open up and soften the #volcanic stridency.  — 4 years ago

I'm serving this BTG where I am a food server! Excellent with our Pot of Shellfish!

Bodegas Los Bermejos

Lanzarote Diego Seco 2013

A perfect example of how challenging conditions often produce the most charactered wines. From the Canary Island of Lanzarote, the vines are grown in small pits dug into the black #volcanic soil to protect them from the intense Saharan & Atlantic winds. The grape is native to the island, and the #salinity and minerality carry to the glass layered with notes of cumin, bay leaf and faint goat cheese-like tang. — 4 years ago

I live in Tenerife (Canary Islands) and I'm totally agree. Canary wines are really good 😳😃
