We love @Tracey Brandt & @jared brandt's endless adventurousness in winemaking. Their skin contact (aka orange wine) Roussane is a perfect example of boundary-pushing brilliance: exotic floral aromatics, toothsome umami-flecked palate, tannin and texture normally associated with red wine - it is an endlessly compelling wine. — 9 years ago
From the Mâconnais table, curated by Sociale's @Rebecca Fineman and @Chris Gaither, Tripoz's Les Mordanes is a dark horse well worth betting on. Biodynamically farmed on clay and limestone, and unfettered from manipulation, it shines with purity and freshness.

There is no question winemaker @Pax Mahle is one of California's Syrah kings. Perched high on Mendocino's Cahto Ridge, the Alder Springs vineyard is a benchmark site for the grape, delivering the classic notes of dark brambly fruit, smokey game meat, briney black olives and savory spice. — 9 years ago
@Chris Brockway has the magic touch in the glouglou department. His nod to Loire's Cheverny, this blend of Pinor Noir and Gamay Noir is one my-god-you're-good delight. We second @Pig & Vine's Amy Collins: "hits the palate with an energetic 'Hi friend!' Then it gets a tad cerebral... I savored every mouthful." Fruit and umami dancing perfectly together - yes please! — 9 years ago
@Daphnee Metiu (Prospect) and John Lancaster (Boulevard) are sure to have a very popular Beaujolais table with this gem. One of the oldest estates in Fleurie, Dutraive's are unmistakable with intense aromatics and earthy fruit. From vines planted in the 1940s, this old-vine bottling is downright lust-worthy.

If you've ever met owners @Sarah Mason Pittenger and @Chris Pittenger it will make perfect sense why their Pinot's are so spirited and joyful. As sommelier @Steven Morgan aptly puts, the Campbell Ranch is "structured and opulent," full of depth, liveliness and bearing the tell-tale bright red fruit, roasted beet and forestal notes that have put Anderson Valley Pinot Noir on the map. — 9 years ago
Breaking the traditional winery mold, @GrapeSeed Wines collaborates with a celebrated group of winemakers, giving each the freedom to focus on their favorite wines. No suprise, Anderson Valley superstar Douglas Stewart shines bright with his zippy yet unctous Pinot Gris. Robert Parker himself declared Stewart's renditions the best in the new world... not too shabby, eh? — 9 years ago
When celebrated New York sommelier @Josh Nadel ventured down the vintner path, he headed straight for Oregon's Willamette Valley to make nuanced, food-friendly Pinot Noir in the Old World tradition. And lord did he ever hit the nail on the head. Layers of black cherry, anise and lightly woodsy notes meet a gently masculine edge from the partial whole-cluster fermentation for a deliciously gulpable yet still serious wine. — 9 years ago
One of the many beautiful Côte Chalonnaise selected by @Francesca Maniace(Commonwealth) and Jonathan Waters (Chez Panisse), this monopole from Faiveley a true insider's wine (read stellar value), it hits all the essential notes: elegant fruit, supple texture, bright acidity and classic Burgundian minerality

Delectable Featured Wine
Tucked in Napa's Stag's Leap range, White Rock Vineyards was first established as a winery in 1860 (with a prohibition-era stint as a polo field), and is a true family affair renowned for it's old-world style and traditions. Their top cuveé, after two years in barrel, Laureate is additionally bottle aged in the White Rock caves and emerges deep, distinguished and most importantly, ready to drink. — 9 years ago
