Premier Cru Burgundy

Domaine François Raveneau

Valmur Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2008

Posed and delicious. A hint of honey, some rock pool, pear and ripe apple. Stone and great texture. Long but a little less lucid than the mag of Monte alongside. Excellent — 2 days ago

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2010

Super clean and light with steeliness and light lime color. Much fresher than the 09. Zippy with rock pools, green apple. Almost Riesling like in its precision. Light on its feet despite its depth. — 5 days ago

Wow. As good as it gets. Grippy where it needs to be. Fruit all day long. More of that aggressive and brutish (I exaggerate for effect) pommard style in contrast with it, Volnay. But remarkably approachable and really incredible. 2018. At Red Lion Inn. ( — 3 days ago

Vincent Dauvissat

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2007

Decant your white burgs! This improved so much with air. There’s such power and verve with incredible depth and seamlessness of its layered Chablisen minerality, with buttercream, roasted hazelnuts and an ocean spray-like salinity. It’s texturally captivating, wrapping around the palate with killer density without weight. Racy acids balance its richness and secondary nuttiness and it finishes forever. Excellent. — 9 days ago

Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2002

A gloriously deep and intense nose. Roses and sweet fruit. Plum and violet and black cherry. Lush and round and soooo long. A gamey undertow. The essence of Chambertin. Amazing but very young — 4 days ago

A fantastically complex and profound nose. Dark gnarly fruit, some black cherry and complex herbal notes. Lovely fruit and getting better by the minute in the glass. Glorious as always. — 4 days ago
