Built up a bit of excitement in selecting this Nuit-Saint George, then opened it up and neaaahhh!
All a bit flat. Nothing terribly wrong and it wasn’t corked, just no major aromas or flavors. Guess you can’t win em all. Or, we’ve just been spoiled with amazing wine and every now and then you pick an average one.

Our solid start to 2026 continues….a Cote Rotie producer we’ve not tried before….distinctive sweet caramel scent upon opening with dark fruit concentration, becoming drier more leathery as it opened. Perfect with our steak 🥩 🍷👌🏼 — 2 months ago

Solid Corton-Charlemagne (we strayed from our go to Chablis). Well structured, hint of lemon, but somehow lacked the “wow” factor (or we are become really picky? 🤔 )

A slight deviation in the Burgundy region - off to Richebourg, Grand Cru no less!
Sommelier recommended producer ($$$$$) an excellent choice.
Tasting notes: Sweet, candy scent upon opening (caramel/fudge) then quickly revealed a fruit structure - sweet red fruits and cinnamon sticks (we are making it sound like a dessert wine but that came next 😋) — a month ago

New Years Eve dinner - which red wine to drink?! 🤔
Finally settled on an old favorite - Paul Jaboulet Hermitage.
Did not disappoint - smooth, concentrated fruits, with a hint of earthy, charcoal, tobacco.

Solid but lacked the wow factor we were expecting for a 2005 vintage. Or, maybe we’ve just become really picky with all the nice wine we’ve been drinking?! 🤔

Checking out a new wine spot….so had to be Vosne Romanee (for benchmarking purposes 😉).
Selected a great producer and vintage but not Grand Cru/Premier Cru, so interesting to see the difference 🤔
Earthy, leathering, not quite as refined and smooth as the Grand Crus but we are really being picky…still a great bottle of wine…and new venue (we will be back)! — a month ago

Ah, an old favorite jumped off the wine list to us….the perfect accompaniment to truffle tagliatelle! 😋
Tasting notes: 18 years old but could still age much longer, smooth, fresh red fruits (jammy) but a touch leathery/chewy towards the end of the bottle. — 3 months ago
