A slight deviation in the Burgundy region - off to Richebourg, Grand Cru no less!
Sommelier recommended producer ($$$$$) an excellent choice.
Tasting notes: Sweet, candy scent upon opening (caramel/fudge) then quickly revealed a fruit structure - sweet red fruits and cinnamon sticks (we are making it sound like a dessert wine but that came next 😋) — 18 days ago

New Years Eve dinner - which red wine to drink?! 🤔
Finally settled on an old favorite - Paul Jaboulet Hermitage.
Did not disappoint - smooth, concentrated fruits, with a hint of earthy, charcoal, tobacco.

Drawn back to this Vosne Romanee by a producer family we have tried before (Noellat). Did not disappoint with the usual red currant aromas, overly ripe strawberries in a jammy flavor.

Solid Corton-Charlemagne (we strayed from our go to Chablis). Well structured, hint of lemon, but somehow lacked the “wow” factor (or we are become really picky? 🤔 )

Checking out a new wine spot….so had to be Vosne Romanee (for benchmarking purposes 😉).
Selected a great producer and vintage but not Grand Cru/Premier Cru, so interesting to see the difference 🤔
Earthy, leathering, not quite as refined and smooth as the Grand Crus but we are really being picky…still a great bottle of wine…and new venue (we will be back)! — 17 days ago
