Mahua Sound

Domaine du Pegau

Cuvée Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1990

History in a bottle. This was Laurence’s first vintage that completely bottled and sold out and oh, what an effort it is! The fruit is so well preserved whilst the abundance of secondary characteristics well on display. Structurally sound still and very much alice. One of the oldest CdP’s I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing and just proves how special these wines really are. — 16 days ago

Château Canon

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

The nose is brightly floral fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, haunting blue fruits, raspberries and strawberries. Limestone, crushed dry rocks, leather, light, fresh tobacco with ash, dark rich earth, stones, anise, herbaceous, steeped fruit teas with amazing, candied, bright red, dark, blue florals with violets.

The body is medium full and lush. Beautiful; structure, tension, length and balance. Sound round, meaty and chewy, tarry, sweet tannins. Floral fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, haunting blue fruits, raspberries and strawberries. Limestone, caramel, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, crushed dry rocks, leather, light, fresh tobacco with ash, dark rich earth, stones, anise, dark spices with incredible palate heat, herbaceous, steeped fruit teas with amazing, candied, bright red, dark, blue florals with violets. The acidy is fresh & lively. The well balanced and polished finish is really delicious and persists minutes. This is another wine that jumps 2-4 points with 15-20 years in bottle.

Photos of; Chateau Canon, barrel room, centuries old entrance sign and a wine shot of their Estate and vines.

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2020

Very tasty & well-structured, but at nearly $80-85/btl, I was expecting more. Hate to sound chincy, but there are a lot of surprising $30 btls & I’d gladly try 3 of those for the KB price tag. Had it w/ grilled salmon & grilled squid steak - well matched & held up w/ marinades. — 4 months ago

Pandemic ✅ Police state ✅ Power out ✅ Two babies ✅ But if this wine can get you through that, imagine what it can do when you’re piloting your schooner down the Long Island Sound in happier times. — 2 years ago

No listing for Barbaresco .... so listed it here. A beautiful bottle, sound cork, great color, umami, soy, dark cherries for a winery that doesn’t exist anymore! — 2 years ago
