Mon Chevalier Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

This is simply delightful, bloody awesome actually.
Typical Napa-purity and dito density, yet laced with Bdx-like treble-notes of freshness, acidity and transparency.
Served it alongside maigret/parsnip/anise-jus, but liked it better before and after this fantastic dish.
Score might be on the conservative side…

Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2015

Mid yellow/pale gold in colour. Yellow fruits, tropical - notes of pineapple. On the palate, same notes - medium plus intensity. Oak, which was obvious 8 years ago is now totally integrated. Finishes dry. An overused descriptor but this is delicious. Good white Bordeaux is a delight. 70% Sauvignon Blanc; 30% Semillon. — 22 days ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Medium deep ruby , garnet . Quite rich and deep fruits , with some dusty herbal elements . On the palate also quiet ripe and rich , sweetly fruited . Dark cherry , with some summer fruits , blackberry . Good balance however , with sweet tannin and balanced acidity . Still showing lots of fruit , but drinking now but can can last well , probably improve over the next 5 years or so . — a month ago

My continuing quest to taste as many 22’s as possible.

The nose shows, rich, candied and floral fruits that are: blackberries dark cherries, black raspberries, raspberries on the edges with just a touch of freshly picked rhubarb. Soft minerals & baking spices and bright candied dark, red and purple flowers.

The palate shows ripe, lush fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, plum and poached strawberries. Dark chocolate, caramel notes, red cola & licorice, fresh & dry herbs, dark, smooth spices, dark, rich, forest floor w/ dry leaves, dry twigs, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg & vanillin, dry stone & top soil, barrel shavings, dry tobacco w/ ash, limestone, grey volcanics dark, red candied with some withering flowers with violets, excellent acidity with a round, lush, well made, balance, mid tension, elegant finish that last ninety seconds and lands squarely on spice, clove and dry minerals.

This should be cellared 8-10 and enjoyed over the next 15-20 years plus properly stored.

At $1,140 a bottle, a hard pass for many, but excellent wine with potential for another 2 points w/ age.

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Maybe the best Bordeaux I’ve had, limited experience with this region. Dark fruit, cedar, grippy, really evolved over an hour, last glass was singing. A decade old and long life ahead; I don’t think I’ve ever given these wines enough time. Need more of this in my life. — 18 days ago
