The fruit for "La Chapelle" is sourced predominantly from Le Méal and Bessards (with a little form Greffieux and Rocoules. Relative to the two Chave’s, the 1988 “La Chapelle” seems a bit more like a Hermitage fastball right down the middle of the plate. Desiccated mixed berries, olives, purple flowers, and minerals with a touch of ethyl acetate. Again a great pairing with grilled lamb and Moroccan spices. Vinous and drinking well now through 2035. — 2 months ago
Great stuff. Met all expectations and more. Full span of fruit, spices and more, with an everlasting finish. Just hope I could find other bottles on shelves. — 2 months ago
Nose: blackberry flower. Blackberry liquor. As this opens candied lilacs.
Palate : intense blackberries liquor. Hand crushed very ripe blackberries. Intense. … big vanilla. Lots of spice as this opens.
A well made biggish wine. Great for steaks or pork chops or duck. — 4 months ago
1990 vintage. Decanted and tasted after one hour. Light-medium body. Great color still. Smoke and earth in the nose. Cedar, spiciness and rusticity on a long finish. Still relevant and kicking. Can hold tight for another 6-7 years. Must be a revelation out of a larger format bottle currently...3.15.24. — 2 months ago
The 2021 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne offers a red-fruited profile paired with pencil shavings, meaty undertones and a marked herbaceous streak. Framed by firm tannins and balanced by refreshing acidity, the 2021 hits the palate with juicy red fruits and great intensity. Still, it can’t compete with the more generous and complex 2022. Magnificent.
Nose: floral but elegantly so. Lovely. Yellow flowers. As this opens a white and yellow flower melange. Really close to burgundy weight and elegance wise. Really. Close.
Palate: delicious. Fine minerals. Touches of stone fruit. Great balance. Peach pit. Lovely sprightliness. Magnificent.
Long elegant finish. Mineral. Hint of brine. Almost chablisien. Mountain stream.

Another great btl of this vintage consistent with my prior notes showing clean & pure aromas of dark cherry, raspberry, smoked meat, bacon fat with savory spice, graphite, pepper, olive & violet — 7 days ago
