Château d'Aydie (Famille Laplace)

Odé d'Aydie Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Gros Manseng 2017

Sud-Ouest tasting #4
Beautiful aromatics of apple peel, lemon peel, a touch of wax... amazing nose.
On the palate this is rich yet with singing acidity, good depth & purity, a mineral backbone. Amazing & unique in character - this is truly a beauty.

Chassagne-Montrachet Pinot Noir 2017

I miss the tastings with this semi-confinement we are still in and stole the idea of @Benoit Duhamel here, so we made one at home with my son and my wife who are both wine fanatics as I am too. We chose 6 red Burgundies Villages, 3 Côtes de Beaune and 3 Côte de Nuits and we tasted these blind, each of us giving ranks and points for each wines. Tasting blind usually doesn’t lie and it can bring numerous surprises which it did in that case. All wines were fo a good level here, no bad wines and all were fun and good indiviually but the results were pretty clear cut in terms of the Côte de Beaune winning this battle.

1- Chassagne-Montrachet villages 2017 Jean-Claude Ramonet 32 pts
2- Volnay Vieilles Vignes 2017, Henri DeLaGrange 28 pts
3- Auxey-Duresses Très Vieilles Vignes 2017, Alain Gras 26 pts
4- Chambolle-Musigny Les Véroilles 2017, Bruno Clair 20 pts
5- Gevrey-Chambertin 2017, Lucien Boillot 12 pts
6- Gevrey-Chambertin 2017 Les Évocelles, Louis Boillot 8 pts

The Ramonet: nose of spices, cinnamon, red fruit, animal, gets more complex and extremely aromatic and fun with air. Freshness and vivid fruit with a nice finish, fairly long on delicious red fruit and spices. What a threat! My no 2. 91-92

@Benoit Duhamel , merci Benoit.
1- Chassagne-Montrachet villages 2017 Jean-Claude Ramonet 32 pts
2- Volnay Vieilles Vignes 2017, Henri DeLaGrange 28 pts
3- Auxey-Duresses Très Vieilles Vignes 2017, Alain Gras 26 pts
4- Chambolle-Musigny Les Véroilles 2017, Bruno Clair 20 pts
5- Gevrey-Chambertin 2017, Lucien Boillot 12 pts

Mon no 2 personnellement. 91-92

Vaudésir Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2015

The aromatics are of lemon zest, some butter, a touch smokey and flinty and some ripe orchard fruit. Good acidity but dominated slightly by a certain richness and ripeness, a little more then usual and probably due to the warmer vintage. Nice, but not the better Droin bottle I had. 89-90

Brambly black fruit - fresh, crushed, juicy - with a big pinch of pepper. Add to this a bit of violets and some crushed rock - this is not a shy wine.
Poised & balanced on the palate with juicy acidity, fine tannins and a sense of place. Quite elegant, too.
Shows Cinsault stand-alone can make a really nice wine.

Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1993

This is deep and intense. A gorgeous, velvety deep nose. Intense dark fruit. This is wonderfully lush and plush. Still youthful with almost citrus on the edges. True richebourg. Great. — 11 days ago

Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1996

Tasted blind. Dark purple with tawny rims. Powerful sharp nose. Notes of black fruit, pepper, rhubarb, dark spice and dark earth. Has that tinny mouth feel that I’ve associated with 96s before. I find this young and harsh, with a massive core of fruit hidden underneath. The profile implies to me it’s Vogue and I throw out a 99 Musigny guess. Others liked this wine more than me. I question if the fruit can ever balance with the in-your-face acidity and structure. Some 96s have stated to soften and move into a drinking window. For me, not this one yet. — 18 days ago

limited experience w her wines but not a big fan. Wasn’t too oaky?

There was definitely some oak there... it’s the shrill acidity that dominated the experience tho. Maybe with a lot of air it might have resolved and softened up a bit

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2017

9.4

Very carbonic nose. Red cherries, cranberry, mulberry bog, spices, some earth and mineral. Delicate and nuanced. Expansive and deep. Great nose. Classic Foillard CDP. Palate is focused like a laser. Juicy, complex, fresh and structured. As far as carbonic bojo goes this is hard to beat. A baby now but so balanced, complete, complex and classic. Terrific. — 3 days ago

Delightfully “Bouzy” with tiny bubbles, a delicate nose of apple and lemon curd and flavours hinting at brioche, minerals and a subtle showing of marzipan on the finish. A perfect bottle for an anniversary celebration! — 8 days ago

Cornalin de Chamoson 2018

Cornalin grape: first!Dark purple color, brilliant. Nose not too marked by aging. Black fruits with a beautiful aromatic density also aromas of flowers. The mouth is semi-full-bodied, recalling by its structure and its freshness Syrah/Grenache, by its earthy side the Cabernet-Franc: black fruits, freshness, liquorice, roasting, chocolate ... A rich aromatic range which suggests a beautiful aging capacity. Another nice bottle of Chamoson in AOC Valais 🇨🇭

Cépage Cornalin : première !
Robe sombre violine, brillante.
