Jean Foillard
Cuvée 3.14 Morgon Gamay
Pretty amazing texture. Super silky. A little cleaner than the cote du py & less barnyard (Brett)funky aromatics. Dark, rich layers of cherry fruit. A lot of brettanomyces here but still very enjoyable. 2014 vintage

Mar 3rd, 2018Always gulpable. Needed time to open but fresh and delicious if given at least an hour.

Jun 14th, 2017Sweet? Gassy, cloudy. Brett to the max but I'm a sucker for it at this level. Very volatile. Just enough carbonique fruit to make it all work for now.

Feb 11th, 2017First bottle ever. Yesssss! Back to it on day 2. Better! Earthy red fruits hinting towards dark, complex funk in a good way, dried flowers, rocky mineral. Saving one more glass for tomorrow. Glad I have another bottle to come back to down the road.

Feb 3rd, 2017A great wine from Foillard. Rich dark fruit, savory herb, menthol. Good acidity. A treat!

Nov 9th, 20192014 old vines #morgonstudy - Interestingly, while the Lapierre was a touch more alcoholic (13% vs. 12.5%), it was lighter and more playful on this night. Foillard's 3.14 was concentrated, dense, sported a dark red fruit spectrum, smoky, and very mineralic. My biggest problem with this wine was its disjointed tannins. Nevertheless, it was a joy to drink and really energetic.
