Combe Des Tourterelles

Domaine Bruno Clavelier

Vieilles Vignes La Combe d'Orveaux Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

I reckon BH’s notes on this are pretty spot on for my experience (expect the part on the Noirots), so here it is:

“Once again, there is a subtle though not invisible application of wood that still easily allows the airy, cool and restrained aromas of various red berries, and in particular cherry, floral and a mildly exotic whiff of dried orange peel. The energetic and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors are much finer if less powerful than those of the Noirots while display notably more minerality as well on the compact, serious and built-to-age finale. This is a wine of finesse and refinement but the flavor authority is impressive as is the tannic spine.”

WOTN for most I believe. Showed well with air, but clearly some tightness at the start. Loved the energy here. Very promising!

La Combe des Fous Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2020

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Combe des Fous is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut and Vaccarèse. The 2020 La Combe des Fous offers up intense aromas of cooked red and black fruits, cloves, licorice, dried herbs and black olive tapenade. Solid tannic structure frames this concentrated, full-bodied powerhouse, balanced by bright acidity. It concludes with excellent freshness on the savory finish. Domaine Fourrier

Combe Aux Moines Vieille Vigne Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

A fantastic ‘11! No doubt in a leaner style but there’s clear Fourrier signature and it’s so fresh, with absolutely zero greenness, just beautiful floral perfume and bright red cherry fruit that waft from the glass. The palate gains notably in weight and intensity and its pure, focused and saline-mineral inflicted finishes keeps on lingering. Great showing for a vintage I generally avoid in reds. — 23 days ago

Combe Ballard Canyon Trousseau 2020

Was not supposed to age for 2 extra years, but wow I’d this still fresh. Some great herbs, strawberry, artichoke, parts of this have herbs found in a good Italian bitters. Maybe gentian? I love it. So good with food. What a unique wine. — 3 months ago

La Combe Verte Pinot Noir 2021

Delightful@and delicious Really enjoyed this Pinot. Can hardly wait to buy more. Medium bodied, purple red color, cherries, works very well with lots of food from steak to pasta or as a stand alone while reading, chatting to watching a movie or sports on TV lovely after flavor. La Combe Grisard

Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2018

Alluring red fruit, sandalwood, struck flint and earth initially. With air the wine moved into a savory realm, beef stock, mushroom, sous bois and peppercorn. Detailed and layered with a very honest expression. — a month ago

La Combe de Malleval Condrieu Viognier 2011

2011. This wine sits heavy and rich on the tongue. Stone fruit, floral, and a little oak. Paired great with sesame crusted tuna steak, 5-spice roasted sweet potatoes, and smashed cucumbers. — 3 months ago

La Combe de Rotalier Cremant du Jura Chardonnay

Wow. The first Cremant du Jura that can go toe to toe with champagne. At first, bracing & mineral. With some air, slight oxidative notes, lemon, Greek yogurt and golden apple. After a bit more time, rich flaky pastry. Believe the hype. — 5 months ago
