Chinon Cabernet Franc 2018

Beautiful, silky Chinon, with blue & black berries, flecks of earth, and a bit of leather. Overdelivers — 16 days ago

"Les Chassignols" Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2016

Serious cellar potential, and that is probably where this one belongs for awhile. Very primary, dense, juicy and structured. Crunchy wild berries, gravelly mineral character and slightly herbaceous. This bottling needs more time than even the grand reserve Juliénas because of its much shorter elevage and early release time. It will surely reward, but showing some mutedness now. — a day ago

Vieilles Vignes Nuits St. Georges Pinot Noir 2016

Draws a fine line between concentration, grace, and structure. The black cherry and pomegranate fruit is deep, mixing ripe with a touch kirsch. Classic NSG savory notes come through but framed by an alluring floral side. Game, iron, hung meat, licorice, floral pastille, sandalwood and cedar. The fruits richness shines up front on the palate, and he wine departs with a compact mineral touch and very fine tannin. This packs a lot of length, complexity, and balance for a village wine with purity that really helps it punch above its weight. — 15 days ago

Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1966

Hands down the most exemplary showing from Bordeaux of my birth year vintage. First of all, a spectacular night spent with @Mike R and @David L at Somni in Beverly Hills for a transcendent foundation shaking 20 course meal that will linger in my memory for decades. Mike sourced this bottle in Raleigh from someone who purchased on release and it screamed provenance. I was blown away by this bottle. Delicious graphite and plum fragrance on pop, zero musty vibes, cloudy garnet in the glass but showing absolutely no loss of weight, gravitas or structure. Ample rich fruit, dusty mouth staining tannins and a full, silky, sexy finish. This was next level. Thank you @Mike R for this. It is without a doubt a benchmark wine for me. — 6 days ago
