Founded by Emilio Moro, born in Pesquera de Duero. Wine made from vineyard grapes, 25 & 75 years old, from Camino Viejo estate. Malleolus is a Latin word meaning “small hammer or mallet” used in planting & “majuelo” Spanish for “young vine” a traditional way of referring to a vineyard in Pesquera del Duero. Deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruit, espresso & cedar notes. Flavors of blackberry & cherry with vanilla spice, ripe tannins starting to soften. Well balanced, complex, long earthy finish. Nice! Will age! — 2 years ago
I love 21. Utterly classic but young nose of red berries, granite and a youthful grapiness. Some florals as well but a bit of a monolith aromatically out of the gates. More notes later as it opens up on the nose. Palate is so elegant my goodness and has that youthful grapiness. Huge red and darker berry fruit, perfect balance, clarity and purity. So juicy and clean but young but obviously very high quality. More notes as it evolves. Nose now closed at 3 hours but palate has gained finesse and it’s ultra juicy and pure. Finish is clipped but this is the whole package. This has a semi opulent midpalate one can get lost in. Wow. Incredible decadent Pomerol (lafleur?) fruit. Just insane. So elegant. This is the best Burgaud ever. — 3 years ago
Great stuff and ready to drink. Same touch (and family) of Clos Rougeard, but price tag is less than a third. Still expensive but great bottle. Cabernet Franc better than that you need to tap at Chateau Cheval Blanc or Chateau Lafleur… — 5 months ago
Nice second wine from pomerol! My understanding is that this is 54/46 Merlot / cab franc. You certainly get the cab franc characteristics on the nose and palate. Just starting to veer into secondary but still has great primary fruit with a nice vein of acid cutting through everything. Opened 4 hours and decanted 1 hour before which was the right call. Very nice pairing with double R ranch prime strip steaks on a blizzard day in nyc. — 9 months ago
A bit sharp and onedimensional.. — 2 years ago
A really fine Pomerol. Drinking beautifully. 2016Guest returned it for being “sharp and tangy.” Well, no. It’s just great. Classic rich red fruit with nice and sure pronounced acidity. Lovely. — 2 years ago
Well it’s the Acte 8, but that’s close to 9😉 in this price range it’s for me a steal. From a winemaking dreamteam comes this great bottle full of excellent wine, full bodied and fleshy stuff. Cool tannins and a bright future, if you find it just buy it and consider yourself lucky. — 3 years ago
Tasted blind. It was evident that this was mature Bordeaux at its finest quality level from an excellent vintage. The absence of brettanyomces and a right bank aroma profile pointed towards Lafleur or Petrus. Deliciously ripe and dried red fruits mingle with black truffle, cocoa powder, forest floor and cigar box. Gently caressing the palate, the 1970 Château Petrus delivers a full-body, velvety tannins, a core of dried red fruits and a long, lingering finish. Probably slightly past it's peak, but still spectacular. Drink now. — 4 years ago
Dark rubi robe, no fading or bricking on the reams. Nose of cedar wood, top soil, blackcurrant and violets. Silky and elegant in the mouth, polished tannins, ever so slightly grip at the end, overall very cabernet and excellent freshness and tension in this medium bodied wine. Its now called Les Perrières de Lafleur and goes for over double the price. Excellent wine !!! — 4 months ago
This savory gem is part of the 2005 stash we purchased to celebrate our grandson Carter’s birth year. Often called “poor mans Latour,” Sociando shares a similar terroir one finds in Pauillac.
Well into its tertiary stage, it still is in many ways, (other than primary aromatics and flavors), displays the youth and vitality of a much younger wine.
Structurally firm, Medium>full body, ample fruit, medium+ acidity, with competing chalky tannins at the finish. Overall quite savory, dried red and black fruits abound with hints of nuts and woodland herbs. Long life ahead !! — a year ago
90 M 10 CS
5.000 bottles produced from the two plots (one nxt to the church and the other in front of Lafleur Petrus).
Takes some coxing to open up on the nose. Fragrant and deep, nice body on the mouth. Strict and fine on the mouth covering a beautiful world that will be revealed with time.. 93+ — 2 years ago
The 2020 Bellegrave is well-defined and poised on the nose, blackberry and briary, hints of truffle unfolding with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-infused entry. Quite solid and structured, almost like a "mini-Lafleur", with a well-defined and persistent finish that has splendid mineralité. Very fine. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2023) — 4 years ago
Literally just a short hop west of Sociando Mallet, a great Bordeaux I’ve bought and cellared since the great 1982, this is an 85% CS/15% M Haut-Medoc that is quite fine, definitely shows a solid tannic backbone, lovely fruit, medium-long finish, I’d guess 7-10 years easily of further development, only troubling thing for me is the 14.5% ABV, but lovely wine nonetheless. — 4 years ago

No notes. Bottle offered to my friend and kept since then, again for a decade or more. Superb currently, can be kept for another 5 to 7 years easily. Cassis, oak and firm tannins, strong acid drive, tar and cigar on the nose. Great stuff ! — 2 months ago
