Bernard Burgaud
Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Purple in color with a wide purplish rim and light intensity.
Earthy nose and medium in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with mild complexity.
Showing red and blue fruits with light wood, spices, coffee, earth, vegetables and bitter herbs.
Short finish with soft tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This is atypical for a Northern Rhône red, Doesn't drink like a Syrah at all.
Might be too young, and needs more bottle time to mature properly.
A little unbalanced and austere, but drinkable nonetheless. Better with food.
100% Syrah grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 15 months.
13% alcohol by volume.
86 Points.
$80.

I love 21. Utterly classic but young nose of red berries, granite and a youthful grapiness. Some florals as well but a bit of a monolith aromatically out of the gates. More notes later as it opens up on the nose. Palate is so elegant my goodness and has that youthful grapiness. Huge red and darker berry fruit, perfect balance, clarity and purity. So juicy and clean but young but obviously very high quality. More notes as it evolves. Nose now closed at 3 hours but palate has gained finesse and it’s ultra juicy and pure. Finish is clipped but this is the whole package. This has a semi opulent midpalate one can get lost in. Wow. Incredible decadent Pomerol (lafleur?) fruit. Just insane. So elegant. This is the best Burgaud ever.
